| Is Russell Martin really in the last chance saloon ? on 08:55 - Dec 30 by PawelAbbott | It always amazes me when people are willing to give a manager a 12 month or longer transition time. Does it really take 12 months to teach a professional player to pass to someone in their own coloured shirt? We used to play 'Hoik it and hope' now we are playing 'Pass it until they're bored'. We are paying these guys tens of thousands a week, surely they can work out the change pretty quickly |
Like I mentioned we were playing some scintillating stiluff in that run of 5 wins in 6 but tactically the wheels just came off. I don’t know if Liverpool demanded RW play but it’s screwed us over for 9 points. Add to this a really unbalanced midfield and the results were always going to be negative. Grimes really needs to get out of the way - even just for RM to experiment. Our play (especially with 3 defensive midfield players) was pedestrian and predictable. Grimes rested, Bidwell at LWB , Manning , cabango/Lati/Bennett (RCD)and Naughton in the middle of the back 3 and a rejuvenated Laird hopefully at RWB. Maybe time to try out Oba alongside JP? Maybe but I’d leave that til after the Fulham game

What exactly does this mean? Was he given an opportunity to fight for his place? Did he decide he didn’t want to fight for his place? Probably not putting the club first either way co side ring he can clearly play football at this level

Because RM told him he wasn’t in his plans and Fulton didn’t want to be. He hasn’t played since we reported that in Sept.

This is what worries me Here we have our most experienced midfielder, one who played and scored appt the highest level, yet, Martin decides after one ninth he is nit up to it and Fulton obviously sees his backside. Any sign of any man management there . Not as far as I can see. He is a lost talent for us . We play Korey Smith instead I hope Fulton doesn’t face us this season especially at Forest .

The biggest difference I see is that when Jay Fulton is playing, I remember that he is playing. He is regularly involved in the match. I often forget Korey Smith is playing.

Looking at what’s gone on recently results wise, player management wise. Would you trust this guy with your money with January window coming up ? Big questions………..

Missed all that Not very professional of either in my opinion. I quite like Korey Smith as the team seems to play better when he’s playing even if I can’t pinpoint what he’s doing Fulton I felt was maturing nicely over last season or so and even if not a guaranteed starter is more of a benefit as a squad player than many others - I’d prefer him alongside downes than Grimes but that may just be me

Agree Martin appears to have little psychology going on but Cooper was even worse and Potter got routinely abused brcause he spoke of studying psychology.

I detested Cooper and though Potter rather detached but he has done well at Brighton.
