| Ministry of Justice 18:29 - Feb 2 with 3807 views | johnlangy | This is the email I just sent to Rebecca Evans re the 500 MOJ jobs planned on being transferred to Wales ********************************* As part of their Levelling Up agenda the Westminster Government are planning on moving Ministry Of Justice jobs around the UK. They plan on creating seven Justice Collaboration Centres and the one in Wales is planned for Cardiff. There will be 500 jobs transferred and they explain that they will expand the department’s presence in Swansea, Cardiff and Newport with some additional jobs in North Wales. With my cynical head on I believe that this will translate into perhaps 100 jobs between Swansea, Newport and North Wales with the rest (400 or so) going to the new centre in Cardiff. In England the reason for the ‘levelling up’ is to bring the rest of England closer to the prosperity enjoyed in London and the South East. In Wales the only area that could be considered wealthy is Cardiff and the South East and yet instead of the jobs going to other areas of Wales that need them they will go to Cardiff. Add on the Newport ones and we would get about 430 of the 500 going to the one area that doesn’t need them. Following on from the almost criminal decision to centralise all Welsh HMRC jobs in Cardiff it makes me wonder why Welsh Labour aren’t interested in levelling up in Wales. Even the dreadful Boris Johnson is apparently making an attempt to do it in his country. Welsh Labour’s only plan appears to be to centralise everything in Cardiff at the expense of the rest of Wales. You did it with the awful decisions to centralise neurosurgery and the Major Trauma Centre in Cardiff. I’ve just mentioned HMRC and the MOJ jobs. It’s even happened in sport with the latest example being cricket. These are just the examples that spring to mind. I imagine you’ll come back with an explanation of the logic of this latest travesty of justice (no pun intended) but I believe the vast majority of Welsh people outside the South East believe as I do. ********************* When I get a response i'll let you know what she says. | | | | |

If the enemy of my enemy is my friend then Westminster should be the ally of every Welsh person living outside the Central CF postcode area. They're our only protection against the parasite within. |
But Westminster is even worse and they care less. Conservative Westminster won’t pour money in to Labour South Wales because they won’t see a tangible benefit and vice versa.

Wales does get additional funds via the Barnet Formula, around £15 Billion. https://www.centreonconstituti Issues like health and education have gone backwards under devolution, it's difficult to find any key area that has improved.

| Ministry of Justice on 09:58 - Feb 7 with 866 views | johnlangy | I had a response back from Rebecca's office asking if I was asking the question based on Rebecca's Ministerial Role. This was my response. ***************************************** Both her ministerial role and as MS for Gower. As a Minister she would be directly involved in decisions about where departments like the Justice Collaboration Centre should be based. And as MS for Gower, effectively Swansea, I expect that she should be making the argument that investments like this should be going to areas other than Cardiff. And when those investments involve a large number of jobs it is only Swansea and Cardiff (I include Newport as Cardiff here because of proximity and it’s also part of the SE of Wales) that have the population levels to be able to sustain the needs. As I said in my initial post, literally everyone I speak with when decisions like this are made are of the opinion that the Senedd is incredibly biased toward Cardiff and the South East. I’ve often made the point in the past that, even though the Senedd criticises Westminster for being London centric at a UK level they then proceed to be Cardiff centric at a Wales level. And this at the expense of the rest of Wales. ******************************* Again, i'll keep you posted if I ever get a response actually from Rebecca. | | | |

Aren't they just cat. Just had another reply from Vicky. ****************************** The UK Government does not engage at all with the Welsh Government on these kinds of decisions, so Rebecca would not be actively involved in this in her Ministerial role as you suggest. As this is a decision for UK Government, Tonia would be best placed to ask questions and so on of the Secretary of State in Westminster. Similarly, the decision on the HMRC and MOJ jobs you refer to was entirely one for the UK Government. Welsh Government has no say in where the UK Government decides to locate its departments. ***************************** My response. ***************************** I did imagine you may say something like that Vicky about HMRC and the MOJ. I will certainly contact Tonia about them. Having said that I would have at least expected an opinion from Rebecca expressing her concern for the dreadful unfairness of those decisions. It is a statement of the obvious that Westminster couldn’t care less for Wales when they make these decisions, they just take the easy option with no consideration for actual people. I mentioned the 400+ jobs in the MOJ going to Cardiff. The HMRC decision effectively stole 1000 jobs from parts of Wales in desperate need of those well paid jobs. But I also mentioned earlier about the centralisation of neurosurgery and the MTC in Cardiff. The Senedd has full responsibility for the NHS in Wales so those decisions were purely down to the Senedd. Those two examples alone highlight the absolute Cardiff centric bias within the Senedd which directly affects Rebecca’s constituents. I trust i’ll get an answer direct from Rebecca at least on those points. The three quarters of Wales being left to rot by decisions in both Westminster and the Senedd should be a source of shame for both Governments. ************************************ All good fun.

We probably can't, which is why they can be so comfortable about doing so. Even if we're being charitable and accept that they weren't involved in the decision to relocate everything to Cardiff, nobody can honestly believe that they would have put up any kind of objection to doing so if they had been consulted. Building up the City-State of Cardiff at the expense of everywhere else in Wales has been a Senedd priority since Day One, no matter what their useful idiots would have you believe.

It's insulting to claim that they were not consulted or had any chance to influence the decision. If so, they take us for fools.
