“I don’t want to make excuses, but….” 04:23 - Feb 9 with 2157 viewsDr_Parnassus

Here is about 10 in a single answer for you.

This is sheer madness.

He said “I don’t want to make excuses” then goes on to say:

- “Haven’t got enough players that can play Saturday and Tuesday.”
- “Too many tired bodies, I think.”
- “The emotion of Saturday took it out of them.”
- “Playing the last game and so many minutes with 10 men”
- “When you are coming in with no pre season”
- “The extra break we have had recently, and all that”

Then reiterates again “it’s not an excuse but…”

- “a game too many for too many of our players”
- “the pitch was difficult”
- “not sure about the penalty which changed the game”
- “late kick off”
- “6 hours on a bus yesterday hasn’t helped, and all that”

That’s eleven excuses in around 2 minutes of answer regarding today’s performance.

He blamed the ref, not having fit players, tiredness, effect of heightened emotion, the bus journey (yesterday?!), the pitch, the ref, pre season and the winter break.

He has to be trolling at this point surely?

How can you still be talking about a lack of pre season in the middle of February, when you have just had an impromptu month off over Xmas when most clubs are crying out for a rest?? Then blaming a long bus journey AND the pitch to top it off.

Get real.

Ollie was on the bench for Newport yesterday. Started 19 in a row so needed a rest.

Not convinced the club has a genuine plan for bringing its own youngsters through. Would rather sign equivalents for six figure fees. Happy Ollie is staying at Newport to play and develop. Think he's been namedropped a few times because he plays a position Martin uses in his masterplan (read: only plan). Garrick doesn't, he's a wide striker who will be shoehorned in at wingback like Joseph has been.

Can someone translate please?

DO you ever actually answer the question posed?

How do you know Naughton hasnt the legs he is currently crocked!

Why wasnt Ollie recalled in January rather than spend money on Wolf ...this season has already been written off and had been by many so they say after the play off final so wouldnt it make sense to have some of these young players of ours playing now alongisde the likes of NAughton, Fulton and Bennet learning from teir experience whilst also being trained in the MArtin way ready for next season.

Play in the Martin way?
What is that exactly? Possession football where no one is anywhere near each other?
Pass it around until coming under pressure, then panic and kick it to someone who is marked?
The random tombola of positions? Spin the wheel to see where you play today.

I agree...I was just stressing the point if there is a "process" and this season is one of transition and the club wants to develop its players as per the Neath Valley poster surely the likes of Ollie and Brandon Cooper come to think of it should be here now and being indocrinated to the Martin way ready for this terrific season predicted next year

I have queationed Martin ball from early days...ever since I was told its so much better than we we have seen the last two seasons...and no results!

I've said it before, there's a touch of narcissism about our Russ that might be his downfall. I recall a presser back in the autumn when he was asked about why Piroe and Paterson were playing so well.

His response was something along the lines of "they stopped playing how they wanted to play and started playing how I want them to play". It set alarm bells ringing at the time.

I take his point about 10 men on Saturday tiring us out which I think is fair. However, it hasn't helped that we have a threadbare squad because we've had to get rid of/ loan out most of the squad depth in order to bring in an apparently (from first impressions) bang average league 1 keeper amongst others. Now the financial constraints we're operating under aren't his fault, but he must have signed off on that?

Martin has a specific philosophy.
He claims he needs time to perfect it and the club will oblige him.
It is clearly easier to induct younger player into his ways than older players.

Allen and the club have their own philosophies which means Swansea's younger player have to be developed at whatever cost excluding relegation.

So lets look at the facts

Cooper B, Cooper O, Cullen, Whittaker, Willaims moved out of the club
{Not club philosophy unless they are reintegrated in July}

Benda sent on loan {not club philosophy]
Fisher bought [Not club philosophy}
Smith and Hamer new contracts {Not club philosophy)
Cabango and Obafemi rare game time. {Not club philosophy}

Young player being developed 2nd half of season Piroe, Obafemi, Cabango Downes.

A clash of philosophies could occur over the new contracts of Hamer, Naughton and Smith. Naughton appears to be a standout,

Only Cabango is an in house academy player.

I still can't see what the Martin way is?
There doesn't seem to be a conceivable style that can in anyway be effective.
The Swansea way was about short triangles, moving the ball to move the opposition. Pass and move.
This is pass and stand still. Move the ball to move your own team out of position

There isnt a Martin way at all aart from telling players to commit football suicide because when it goes wrong,it will be someone else's fault.

#Threadbare squad? Why bin Whittaker as soon as possible.Cullen even . Why deplete your thin squad further.

Why bring in injured players,Playres like Wolf so utterly lost in space and why a 18yr old kid at Ch then not pick him.

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not
