| Swans and Robins fans given the benefit of the doubt for today’s high risk gam on 17:54 - Feb 14 by pencoedjack | https://www.otib.co.uk/index.p Seems Bristol fans not happy with their escort to the ground. Fair old walk in fairness. |
Sounds a bit like what I ended up getting caught in back at theirs in 2019. They were lucky only to miss 5/10 minutes of the game, we missed about 20/25 minutes that day and we set off from the pub at 1:30! Should only have been 40/45 minutes. Absolutely shambolic policing that directly contributed to the disorder in and around the ground that day. Yes some of our fans probably turned up intent on causing trouble that day but most were just normal swans fans who became increasingly infuriated with the time it was taking to get to Ashton Gate. There was one particularly egregious point where we were about 20 minutes walk from the ground at 2:45 and they decided to stop us stone dead for 20 minutes for no obvious reason at all. Only after KO did they get us moving again. The predictable result was hundreds of furious Swans fans piling into the ground at 20 past 3 at the end of stand nearest some of their more 'boisterous' fans and it all kicked off shortly after and again after the game. Having not been around for the 80s and 90s it was the worst football disorder I've ever seen, and to this day I maintain that Avon & Somerset Police actively made the situation worse rather than better.

The away trip after the Potters Wheel incident early 2000’s was overkill. Straight into an escort off the train, marched around Bristol for hours, dumped in the ground a good hour and a half before KO. Same on the way back the the station after the game. Bristol fans moaning after being allowed to drink in the Grand and a one mile walk don’t know they are born.

I was at that away game that day it was painful that's why I've never been to CCS for a game I can't think of anything worse

What was even sillier from the police was bringing them through the tiny pathway next to the Frankie and Benny's and then down to the club shop and round the stadium. If they'd like wanted to, they could have broken through any time they wanted. Watching the police trying to control them as thru fanned out at the boss brewery roundabout was a site to behold too. |
Police operations are often planned from Bridgend with little local knowledge. I think it was Milwall a few tears ago they blocked local people from walking home to cars on Sion Road.

i don't understand why they didn't just keep them behind for 20mins or so after the game to allow our fans to disperse, especially in that weather, can't imagine a massive crowd would hang around for that time waiting
