Being white is now regarded as being racist. It won’t be long before every invention or discovery made by a white man will be regarded as racist and then banned. No more cars or planes, electricity, satellites, GPS,antibiotics, internet, and much more.

Can’t define it really, everyone qualifiers for different reasons - but I’m generally talking about the crazies when I say “the left”.
Those that view everything through the spectrum of race, those that want to change language, those that put identity politics above all else, those that need safe spaces from those that disagree with them, those that want people cancelled if they have a disagreeable opinion, those that fear debate and resort to broad name calling to avoid digging deeper into their opinion, those that purport socialism although don’t know anything about it, those that talk about fascism whilst displaying far more fascist language and actions than those they are accusing… the list is endless really.
All those I consider part of the crazy left, normal people want nothing to do with that sort of stuff which is becoming more and more normalised.

Keynes said that n times of crisis... depressions, war... you can spend more than you have to stimulate the economy to stop it collapsing. He also said that in times of growth you run a surplus to pay down debt, so that you are well placed for times of crisis. People on the Left forget that bit though as it's a bit inconvenient.

That is literally what critical race theory is (CRT). It teaches that every white person born has a burden of guilt on them. Just horrendous, insane stuff.
Thankfully there is now a lot of pushback on it and a lot of black parents are actually hearing the rubbish being taught and standing up against it. Trump of course banned it for good reason before Biden brought it back.

I think if you went up to anyone who label themselves as “the left” and listed all those crazy views and asked which they agree with, they would all have at least 1… or most would anyway, that’s my opinion.
I’m not sure there is a sensible left, those on the left that are sensible are often castigated by the crazy left and they end up being up into a centre or centre right box, despite their views not changing. So they may refer to themselves as being on the left but the paradigm has shifted so I don’t really think they are by modern standards.
It’s a bit like feminism, the meaning of that word has changed in recent times and while 90%+ of women believe in equality of the sexes, only around half identify with being a feminist. It’s because the meaning of the word and what constitutes one has shifted, it’s not just about equality of the sexes anymore.
It feels like you have to buy into the madness espoused by certain leftist think-tanks or you are “part of the problem”. Campus culture is the worst, when people are being asked questions you can almost see them looking around for approval to ensure they are saying the right things. They aren’t opinions they are a set of instructions and thoughts you must have if you are to be part of the new left, any deviation and you will be castigated by your peers. This is why they don’t debate, they often say the wrong thing or trip themselves up and they are next for the insatiable mob.
These people are genuinely mad to the core.
Put it this way, I’ve never met an extreme right wing person. I’ve met many extreme leftists who in some cases are even trying to get segregation back, which then gets a groundswell of leftist backing so no finger gets pointed at them for being problematic. Just mad, mad people.

I’m also a white man, I don’t feel unfortunate about it - how can you feel unfortunate about and accident of birth? In the same way why would anyone else be of less value because they are born a different colour? Eating meat is something we could all reduce, but I also eat meat. I will be making a crock pot lentil chilli later though, which will give me meat-free meals for a few days this week. Small but positive steps, open your mind.

Odd that you consider that people may have less value based on their skin colour, especially in a day and age where everyone is thriving regardless of race.

I enjoyed reading that.
People on the left of the spectrum must not be bundled in with the crazy left. I think this is a great way forward to establish that we know who we are talking about. It is OK to have left views, that's a done deal but the crazy left are a different breed.
Talking of campus culture I could say I have experienced that. I was part of the student union and went on conferences. The influence that, even at that age, the crazy left were trying to hold was surprising. I put it down to some of them rebelling against their parents but others just being completely mad. It was an experience for them trying and failing to influence an ex forces guy with a lot of experience working in a Jewish organisation who loved shagging females ( gosh I could be leader of the Conservatives ). I walked out of a Ken Livingstone speech to their distain ( they didn't know I had to get to the Swans game ).
I have got a couple of friends who have got what I consider extreme right views but they are my mates and have my back. I question whether I consider them as extreme right because I have more sympathy to left wing policies or because they actually are!

I like Theroux, have done for the last 25 years. But he’s not a stupid man, he has to do what he can sell to these companies. He knows what they want and he gives it to them, fair play to him.

Certainly puts a fair few to shame who push the oppressor vs oppressors tag line with zero thought or substance.
I can’t imagine how patronising that must feel for a group of people to tell you that you are oppressed when you quite obviously aren’t.
Modern universities have a lot to answer for. They are like radical training grounds now as opposed to learning establishments and a melting pot of ideas and thoughts.
