| Glenn Murray and Robson Kanu assessment from Monday night 10:01 - Mar 3 with 3663 views | magicdaps10 | https://www.walesonline.co.uk/ I brought it up briefly Monday night but noticed that WOL had a story about it. I thought they were bang on at the time when they were speaking, guys who know the game from inside and have been in football surroundings day in day out. There is always going to be split in people's views and opinions but when you have guys with the experience and knowledge then the reality becomes clearer if you wish to listen to these people. Have a read but I would if you are able to get hold of it on Sky, I woukd suggest you have a listen to them. Both have been around a whole and played in the new modern way so can grasp where we are as a club. | |

With our loan players coming back as well with maybe some game time and experience in them it"ll make for a stronger squad who knows a good run from now on and maybe an outside chance of the play offs. |
Maximum 83 points Been done before Who knows ?

| Glenn Murray and Robson Kanu assessment from Monday night on 10:48 - Mar 4 by magicdaps10 | That's what this season was always about, I fully expected a bumpy road and possibly even worse so to be where we are AND with a buffer we now have a chance to put some more groundwork in for the rest of the season. We are not in dire straits and it certainly isn't a 100% case that it ain't work......signs are certainly there if you want too see them. See what I did there 😉 |
Agree we are in transition. As you say we are not in dire straits, we have not spent money for nothing though but we are not yet the sultans of swing, but hopefully come summer 2023 we will all be twisting by the pool looking forward to a season in the EPL with exciting football under Martin

If we are in transition then we need to be seeing progress. Currently our first half of the season was better than our second.

Surely it would be as the first half consisted of 23vgames, where as the second half has consisted of only nine ? Very unlikely to better 23 games haul in only 9 games, unless we had an appalling start ? Transitional season. The season is not yet over yet. Although we are already heading for a mid table finish IMHO

The first half of our season is always defined as 23 games ( assuming 46 games are played ) Or is this halfway mark flexible, like the flexible league table you posted about previously where we can be in 16th or lower depending on perspective?

Nope it isn't. If you have 5 biscuits and you pick one up and eat half. You are more than fine to say ''I will eat the other half of that later''. First half of this season we performed better than we did in the second half. That simple.

Why do you keep using inappropriate analogies Half a season is a factual thing, not something on a sliding rule. Now had you said something along the lines of " Based on the 32 games we have played so far, 16 have led to x and 16 have led to y " then no room for argument ?

Because once I take it away from your nonsense it makes it easier for the confused to understand (you). We have played 32 games this season. We have amassed more points in the first half of that than the second half. It really isn't a tricky concept. Not for most normal people without a tendency to troll anyway. How about you address the point for once instead of being ludicrously stupid? Fair?

| Glenn Murray and Robson Kanu assessment from Monday night on 12:20 - Mar 4 with 807 views | Gwyn737 | I don't get the discounting of point deductions to produce a differing league table. If those points weren't deducted, the context for each of the matches played throughout the league would be completely different. Pushing an 'updated' league table makes the assumption that every other match would have have an identical result which I reckon would be odds on impossible. It's sensible to say we're fortunate to be where we are due the points deductions, but it's daft to suggest the actual table is anything less than accurate and there is an alternative. | | | |

I don't think anyone has suggested that it is the actual table. What was said, is that if we are measuring how good we have been this season then we have been the 17th best team. Derby have earned more points than us this season. No point in pretending they haven't to make us feel better.

As I said, that only works if you make the assumption that all results/injuries/bans etc. would have been exactly the same if played without the points deductions. If not suggesting it as a positive - we could be worse off! The point is we don't so it's not a direct comparison.

Why would a points deduction mean someone has a bigger chance of injury? Nobody is saying we would play the whole season again but this time without the deductions. This season, as things are, Derby have earned more points than us this season. To pretend we have done better than them is silly. We have amassed the 17th most points this season, deductions has helped us get to 16th. When assessing how good our performances have been against other teams, it seems silly to ignore the reason we are 16th and not 17th.

We don't know how the season would have panned out without the deductions though, do we? Different games could have resulted in different injuries (not a bigger chance). The table is what it is.

It wouldn’t be different games. We are talking about the games they have played this season. I don’t know why you are suggesting they would be needed to be played again?

The context without the point deductions would have been different. The same results could not be guarenteed. The staetment that Derby have earmend more points than us this season is of course accurate. Any conjecture on what the table would have looked like is impossible.

I disagree, I see no reason why it would be any different. They have a decent squad and what looks like a decent manager. They have earned 42 points this season, we have earned 41. So when looking at how we are performing in relation to other clubs, there is no point in putting blinkers on and pretending we have got more points than 8 other teams. We are of course 16th. But in terms of performance this season we are 17th. [Post edited 5 Mar 2022 11:06]

Yes. we are 16th and in terms of perfomance 17th. If this season were replayed without the points deductions we'd have no idea at this stage what the table would look like. It's just guesswork.

But I’m not suggesting we play it again. I’m looking at every game already played this season, we are 17th in terms of points gained. We have been outperformed by all those teams. The deductions have helped us get to 16th however. You think if they didn’t have the deduction they would have played differently, I don’t. They are a decent side with a decent manager I am more than happy to take their performances this season on face value.

Yes, I think you’d play differently if you start the season on 0 points as opposed to -21 in the same way coming out at half time 3 up is different to coming out 3 down.

Because these petty things you are doing are mind numbingly ridiculous. You are trolling, not talking football. You know perfectly well what I was talking about. 32 is the games played 41 is the points gained, or 42 if you are Derby. Just like you knew half the season so far was 16 games and not half the 46 game season. Derby have earned more points than us this season, we are 17th in points gained. It really isn’t difficult. I will edit it so it’s clearer for the pedantic… [Post edited 5 Mar 2022 11:08]

Genuinely didn't think you were referring to Derby as they have played 35 not 33 ? That is why I read back on the thread before posting. I thought you and the other posters were talking about some other team in comparison to ourselves on 32 games ? EDIT - 36 to 33 now of course [Post edited 5 Mar 2022 18:31]
