As for the topic, don’t watch it so not really bothered. But it’s no secret that television and film is becoming a bit of a tick box exercise. Don’t know this actors ability so can’t comment on this specific instance, as others have mentioned, due to the character being able to morph into anyone I have no reason to believe that is the case here.

I think they are bringing rules into the OSCARS where you can only win Best Picture if one of your main characters is from a minority racial or sexuality group, or a story surrounding a character from such groups. There are other quotas too in terms of make up artists etc
In any walk of life, when you employ via quota instead of qualification, quality deteriorates. Can you imagine if the NBA or NFL had an 85% white quota to fill, in order to match up with population demographic split - quality of the sport would crash in a second. I’ve never really got into doctor who it’s never been my thing, but looking at it from the outside the basic formula is a larger than life eccentric main character, interesting side characters and a load of scary monsters. They don’t need to “deal with issues”. Just start making the show fun again. That’s what people want.
