Not personally but all around me did. They didn't like you getting in the car for a warm either.

French football clubs, and players, are encouraged to show their opposition to homophobia, transphobia and other forms of hatred towards LGBTQ+ people by wearing rainbow badges on shirts on one day of the year. This is apparently the second time that this player has gone on strike rather than wear the badge for 90 minutes in public. In effect, he was saying "I refuse to stand with my fellow players and say 'discrimination against LGBTQ+ people is wrong'". Twice. If I was LGBTQ+, I don't think I would be thinking 'this guy took a principled stand against empty gestures'. I'd be thinking 'he hates me'.

And why would that bother you out of interest? We live in a world where everyone seems to need validation from everyone. I couldn't care less what someone I don't know thinks about my life. For example, if a Muslim player refuses to wear a cross to celebrate Christianity week or something of that nature... If you were a Christian would you assume he hates you personally? Or would you understand that people have different views with regards to religion?. Would you care that he didn't wear it? I genuinely wouldn't give a damn, wouldn't give it a second thought.

It’s going to help team cohesion, but absolutely it’s his right not to take part. If someone wants 100% support for whatever you are or believe, you’ll wait a long time. No suggestion the player has said anything derogatory about him, he’s simply used his right not to support something he doesn’t believe. Have to respect the man for that. The irony of people (not on here ) abusing his religion for what he’s doing is lost on them.

Exactly the same as taking the knee in support of the fight against racism. Some players stand and applaud, some just stand. Doesn't mean the ones who don't seem to take part are racist. Early Covid, when my neighbours were clapping etc for the NHS and key workers, I joined in the first time, but after that didn't bother. Certainly didn't mean I thought any less of those workers and volunteers at the time ( or now )
