Well 8 days over here would get you 3 games. 15 days, 5 games. It's not much to do.
| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

It costs an awful lot more than that to get to home Nd some away games. As I said, anyone successful earning good money would be able to afford it easily.

It's hard to estimate the amount of time, effort and cost the parents put in. Heck just getting your kid to a local league team for training and matches can be a lot of effort, when you are talking an hour there and an hour back with maybe 2 hours in between, for working parents who maybe have other kids, it's a massive thing.

| Season ticket sales on 11:48 - May 30 by Lorax | Watching a game live is definitely better but I don't think you necessarily get a better feel for the game. At home you can pause, rewind, see any incidents from different angles. You can see something live and be sure you saw something but at home on MOTD/EFL show or watching a recorded game back and rewinding, watching something again, you can see it very differently. I have seen plenty of penalties and fouls that definitely were, or were not, at the stadium but at home the tv has shown I was wrong. at the ground is 100% more fun but the tv replays are more truth. |
Aye true. I can see the benefits of watching a game at home, but would rather be there if I can.

I would rather live more local and enjoy life than be successful and have to live on the other side of the world, working 16 hour days. Work to live and be happy, not live to work.. [Post edited 30 May 2022 16:06]

Fact. Especially this version of the club and the dross we are churning out, especially when I can watch every game anyway. The Whitsunday Islands win every time, sorry if that upsets anyone.

Is the right answer. It’s amazing how many times I’ve had to correct people with what they thought happened in the game after they have come back from attending. When I was a ST holder the first thing I’d want to do is watch the highlight package on whatever medium was out back then, Soccer Sunday or such like. I saw one of the people staunchly for attending (even though I understand he doesn’t as often as he likes to portray) day “I haven’t seen it back yet but…”, while those of us who watched the various broadcasts knew immediately what had happened. It’s a day out, that’s all it is. Nothing more.

The highlights of the first half are shown on the concourse and in the bars with repeats of the key decisions as well as the big screens.

It’s amazing how many come back with absolutely no idea what they have watched. I had a discussion the other week about the Forest game, I think STID it was actually who disagreed with how many shots we had in the first half. Said he was certain it was more than I had listed. I had it in front of me and could literately go and count. Give me all the angles and replays I can want any day. But going is a nice day out, sometimes. There are many games I have witnessed this season where I would question why I bothered going I’m sure. We have seen a fair few on here say they aren’t renewing and I can perfectly understand that.

Absolutely, a bit more atmospheric, always nice to have the “horrible but nice” football smells. Join in with some chanting etc. But in terms of soaking up the actual action on the pitch and processing what you are seeing, broadcasts every day of the week win. Whenever there is an interview regarding a key incident, how many times do you hear “I haven’t seen it back yet”, or “I’ve just been shown by one of the analysts” or “I didn’t see that incident so can’t provide comment at this stage”. Etc etc

Technology has moved on as you well know. I also get sky sports and my IPTV on my phone although it buffers like crazy at halftime. My WhatsApp group also keep me up to date if I want confirmation of any doubtful decisions. We no longer need to wait to get home. But TBH I rarely look at my phone during the game.

I highly doubt many people go to games and watch it on their phones. You must be talking an extreme fraction of 0.0001% or something. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that at any sporting event ever. A WhatsApp group again won’t tell you what you saw, it will tell you what other people saw. Most people that attend a match will need to see key incidents again before knowing for sure what happened. Ask 100 people who watched a broadcast to describe something that happened and I think you would get 95%+ accuracy. Ask 100 attendees what happened in same incident and that would drop significantly. I’d be shocked if you got 50%. One of the main things I used to hear after the celebrations died down from a goal is “who got that?” while listening out for the announcer. Lots of people can’t even be sure of basic things like that. That’s the nature of the beast.

There would be no point going to a game and watching it on your phone. Watching back the goals and key decisions are another matter.

Indeed but they aren’t available until after the game. They take several hours to put together and a 3pm kick off often won’t have a highlight package on any media outlet for at least 3 hours. You would still be leaving that game not knowing for sure or relying on the witness of someone else. This is why there are so many disagreements on here immediately after the match but then settles down come the night. Going to a game for the atmosphere and the occasion is perfectly fine though. So not sure what the discussion is about really.

Sky sports often show goals and key events on their live Sky sports news programs Saturday afternoon and midweek. ifollow throughout their live stream show goal replays and key events (offsides Red cards ect) this for our games is provided by Swans TV or the opposition broadcaster. Quest on its midweek show towards the end of its broadcast often within half an hour of the match ending show highlights of that evenings games. Not 3 hours. Broadcasting in the UK must be way ahead of Australia.

But you only see these on your phone rIght? So my point is unless you are watching a broadcast of some sort, which counts for a tiny fraction of people. The vast majority walk away from a game with far less certainly about what just happened than those who watched the broadcast in its entirety. So while the game is good for the occasion, if you actually want to know what went on, you can’t beat a multi angles broadcast, which takes me back to my original replies with regards to “I’ve not seen it back yet” etc
