| The Isle of Man TT Thread 10:15 - Jun 5 with 2988 views | onehunglow | Surely ,it's time and there must be some of you fine people interested and enthralled by the greatest test for man and machine on the planet, bar none. Personally,if I were John McGuiness,I d be looking at maybe calling it a day after a 100 starts. He's done it all and a legend;a thoroughly nice guy a Morecambe lad to the core. Stay safe . | |

It’s their lives. Don’t you think they know the risks ? Last think they need is for some uneducated numpties on the internet thinking they know what’s best for them.

I'm not saying I know what's best for them and I'm not saying to ban the TT. What I am saying is level of deaths is to high. The safety side must be improved, it happened with F1 and it needs to happen here. EDIT Please try and respond without the insults. It's not needed. [Post edited 11 Jun 2022 19:03]

“Before this stupidity stops” is what you said. Maybe go and ask the riders what they think. They want to compete between the border of life and death. How many die claiming Mount Everest each year ? Maybe ban that as well. And I think the term “numpties” is fairly mild to describe busybodies who think they know what’s best for someone else.

As a matter of interest how many deaths do there need to be for it to become unacceptable in its current form or is it limitless.

If this was on the main land, it would have been banned by now. F1 is now run on modern tracks and they sit in a cockpit thats practically bomb proof. These guys have very little protection and are driving thru built up areas and along roads that have dangerous obstructions that would kill any one who hits them at these speeds, so I can't see how it can be made safe! But if these people want to race there, they know the risks, then let them.

We could simply ban the internal combustion engine . Right now, we have people wanting to legalise class a drugs, certain killers. We have feckles ,violent bar tards who begat children and give them a life of hell and do basically nothing about it. Horses die regularly on the fields of blood and jockeys get badly injured but no question of stopping horse racing. [Post edited 11 Jun 2022 20:58]

Think you will find more horse's die in fields running around freely than in racing should we ban horse's run about

Riders make the decision to race. Horses and dogs do not

Jim. It’s mainly about principle. No horse is trained with its permission. It is conceived and trained to go as fast as possible for the gambling industry, which stinks . You either accept that,as you do,or not as is the case with me . Have a word with some vets

Those horses are extremely well looked after, regardless of the gambling industry’s involvement.

Yes,but it is for business reasons which is my point. IHorses have heart attacks racing and no amount of being well looked after makes any difference. Anyway,no the TT should not be banned . It won’t be Btw, have the lovely friendly Spaniards banned bull fighting yet ?

So are horses that don’t race immune from heart attacks ? And of course the TT shouldn’t be banned. I’d imagine the vast majority of these riders are intelligent individuals and don’t need some numpty telling them what’s good for them. [Post edited 12 Jun 2022 9:30]
