Gareth Bale to Swansea ? Really ? 17th Jun 2022 11:23
It’s only when you look outside of Wales that you hear and see dramatic differences in the mindset of football fans and journalists when it comes to Swansea City and Cardiff City. Within the confines of Ffin Cymru a Lloegr we understand perfectly the differences in culture, understanding and mindset. Outside of Cymru it seems not, there still seems to be a lack of understanding. 0

It all really started to go wrong around 1979, although there were incidents in the early seventies.
The tear ups at both grounds were in monumental numbers. I’m talking many hundreds, more at times. It was seriously daunting but never stopped me and my mates going, impressionable young teens, skinheads and punks etc.

And anyway the Mod revival had started and they had targets on the backs of their parkas 😂

The early 70’s.

We must surely have met.

The early 60’s had no such rivalry as I remember it.
Lots of young Swansea, and surrounding areas, youngsters went for trials with Cardiff City, myself included.

Yes my dad used to watch both when he was a kid, whoever was at home.

Same here at times when worked allowed, till the kids came along, trips to Cardiff stopped then for nappy changing.....then again same view I guess.

What was the year they took the North Bank en mass for a welsh cup game I think, that was a bit messy.

Can't believe you went for a trial with them.
You were far too good.

Early 70s rivalry did exist , one of the "chants " of the day was wandering star " boots were made for kicking, trains were made to wreck , if I see a Cardiff fan I'll break his f*****g neck ",not that I ever did

Looks like a huge offer has come in for him to go to the USA.
Just can’t see it though.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

Doesn't their season end when the world Cup starts.

I think there’s a lot more to Gareth Bale now than playing. Investment, opportunity and numerous options to earn more money. Plus it’s nicer there I’m told 😉

For me he will still sign for Cardiff.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

Not sure what lifey is about but it was around in the sixties.
We hated Cardiff

My old gran dad went nuts any time the name was mentioned

Swansea has for too long been in its shadow and disrespected .

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not
