Multi international keeping Gooch well out of the Team USA picture. I still ask why was Ariola an "American crock" when Englishman Morgan Gibbs White was just "unlucky with injuries". Cooper left because of Arriola and Goykeres ("who were both useless") apparently.

Ariola was recovering from a serious injury not fully fit and and barely played any football not the player you needed to assault a promotion challenge.....Cooper ledr as he didn't get the right tools in the January window and then got pi##ed off when the club asked Palace for a stupid compo figure

Both Brewster and Gibbs White had had long lay offs as well. Arriola was victim of a 'kangaroo forum court' just like his countryman Bob Bradley. The Chief has been warming up with Gooch I note.

In what position would you have wanted him to play? Obviously not better than Roberts and not technical enough to play in midfield in England, especially not in a side knocking on the door to the EPL. He’s 27 and not a single club in Europe has come in for him when he’s extremely cheap. The MLS is a poor league, gets a lot of hype but is miles behind what we are used to in terms of quality. Bradley Wright Phillips went from bit part league 1 journeyman, to MLS scoring legend. There transition was seamless. 2 time golden boot winner and New York Redbulls record goal scorer.

Calling BWP a journeyman is a bit harsh. Four clubs in nine years is probably about average, and he had a solid goal scoring record in England albeit knocking between the championship and league one.

Man City, Southampton, Plymouth, Charlton and Brentford. 5 clubs in 9 seasons, epitome of journeyman surely. Around 2 seasons seems to be around his average stay at a club in England. Incredibly average player that couldn’t get into Charlton's Championship side at the time and shipped on loan to League 1 Brentford before Charlton released him on a free. The fact someone like that can be one of the greatest goal scorers in MLS history says all you need to know. A true Micky Mouse league.

Greg Berhalter seems to think Arriola is a far better bet for his team than European Lynden Gooch. They are the same age roughly and Arriola has players 47 times scoring 11 goals and Gooch 4 times without troubling the stadium announcer. Perhaps Uk fans prefer Gooch due to his UK pedigree tried and trusted. Does it suggest a degree of parochialism? Dempsey, Freidel McBride ,Donovan all distinguished themselves and Daryl Dike was a revelation for Barnsley. Arriola and Morris might play v Wales in Qatar. Only a fool would think it is a Welsh shoe in versus the Mickey Mouse boys. Wales's passing quality is poor and well below that of the USA team as demonstrated at the Liberty stadium a year or two ago.

Not sure what point you are making here at all. Arriola is known for his technical deficiencies. If you think the US team a better at passing than Wales (no idea why that’s relevant) then that isn’t because of Arriola.

"Martin publicly dissed Piroe, Oba, Pato etc etc....... and we finished 15th." Martin dissed Piroe Oba and pato and all three had their best ever seasons. His dissing appears to kick started Piroe and Oba's careers or "galvanised" them in the current popular parlance.

Obafemi and Piroe hadn’t had a full season in England before, I highly doubt their talents are due to a manager falling out with them. They are suited to the Championship and that showed, and will show throughout their careers. Pato was in a situation where he was essentially playing for his career. He was 29 and was playing for his last bumper (for him) payday in his career after being released from Bristol City. He ensured he got it by his performances combined with his strops. Putting them down to Martin’s falling out with them is ludicrous.

. C'mon The Res, you're far better than that. Martin utterly hecked up with all three - FACT. If it wasn't for Piroe's hands-on dad who masterminded his career from the off, Piroe woulda walked; if it wasn't for Oba's deep-rooted beliefs, he woulda walked; if it wasn't for Pato's steadfast agent he be gone. All ultimately prevailed. Despite Martin's schoolboy deficiencies. Let's not forget the Facts shall we. .

Oh dear resloven you've been made to look silly too many times on this already. I know we conveniently 'forget' things but do you remember we looked at the games that Arriola was actually fit for selection for? What you Flynnzindownes seen to forget is that he got injured after about a month and went back. When he was here the team was performing well, I believe only losing in that shambolic Huddersfield game in which he wouldn't have made a blind bit of difference. The games he wasn't selected for, we won narrowly and were still challenging in second place . I asked what games he should have played in and none were put forward besides a total of around an extra 20mins off the bench (in the sub appearances he did make he offered nothing). So a year and half on, you're STILL harping on about an extra 20mins a player who got injured and returned home should have got during a spell when the team was winning games. Its bizarre.

Who said Pato wanted out? What are you reading here? Or are you just lying again? If it wasn’t for Pato’s agent then of course he would end up leaving, he wouldn’t have a contract at the club. Pato didn’t want out, he wanted a better deal. The club didn’t want to give him one. Patos agent has brokered that deal to make both happy. Which part is confusing you?
