The people having to do physical activity in this weather should take care. If it cannot be avoided it should be minimal when compared to usual daily activity.
5:53s is informative: Soldiers, labourer's, people working in hot conditions like bakeries, laundry dryers, industrial scale farming greenhouses etc should take more care than most.
No need to overreact if someone is doing an office job, working from home or sedate activity. Just a case of using common sense and being aware. It's important to recognise the symptoms of heatstroke, I have seen it myself its not pleasant!

I love the weather here, the hotter the better, plenty of ways to cool down. It’s great when it’s around 26c but like yesterday when it was 41c it’s ok, swim, chil relax.
People still work in these conditions, outside and in.
If you do get a bit warm, turn the air con on and have a siesta.
There’s loads of gyms here huge pools, you see kids playing football in this weather. No bother. Spain has many drawbacks for some people but they don’t scare the population to death at every turn via the media.
Apparently more energy and travel reductions tomorrow.
and textile free bathing in the cooling Med you lucky buggrr

Thing is though, not many in the Uk have air conditioning or a large pool. That's why we can't deal with these temperatures, we are just not used to them.
I am on my long week next week, 7 days. I am taking extra water wth me for the office fridge and the F50 sun block will be on, I'll worj through it but taking more time and few extra breaks.
That's all it should be about, be a bit more careful. I agree the news shouldnt be scaring people but I can guarantee there will people being absolutely dumb who will end up suffering because of the heat and some will die.
Spain is far more used to and adapted to the htter weather. The Uk isnt, we get caught every time we have either unusually hotter or colder weather. Thats what you get with decades of utterly shit governnance.

Spanish property especially in the South and I would imagine mid Spain is built to keep the heat out. UK housing is built to keep the heat in.

It looked to be the same up around Barcelona and Tarragona too. We can't compare the 2 countries.
UK governments will give us an overload of information, give us endless advice about how to handle various things but they never do anything infrastructure wise to be prepared for extreme heat or cold. An inch of snow and we grind to a halt, a few degrees hotter and the roads melt, train tracks buckle and schools shut.
All our governments have been good for is adding to the chaos.

If a house is built well enough with good insulation and double glazing the ambient temperature will be quite bearable for most. Insulation keeps the heat in in winter and the reverse in summer. Make sure you don’t open windows allowing the heat in!

I will if the dope tries to bring in more legislation such as planting yet more trees , (have you had yours yet )
Happy to have 10% of my land covered in trees. It will help the environment. We need to do many things. Get some traffic off the roads. Get more trucks delivering at night instead of every truck blocking the roads in daylight hours. Stop the plastic in supermarket packaging. No need for half of it. Stop the likes of Amazon delivering a small item in a huge box. I have a few on farming but you wouldn't like it. And so on. Simple things.

I think the big difference between 40c in spain v 40c in uk is humidity. Our heat here is very humid whereas heat in spain is usually dry.
When I was a lot younger we were in blanes during a freak heatwave, but it was humid. Whilst the brits sweltered but used the bars and pools it was the locals who were collapsing.

The problem is investing in the infrastructure to deal with is extreme weather in the UK is largely an unnecessary cost because of how rare it is.
It's worth the Canadian Govt investing millions in dealing with snow because they know they're going to get six feet of it every winter. Here it's a couple of inches every few years.
Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Sorry my liege “my land” i didn’t realise I was conversing with the Duke of Beaufort I certainly don’t disagree about planting trees but not the way this shower are doing it , there are plenty of brown field sites and non arable land to do so but turning over good productive land is the policy of mad men. The rest I agree with but the amount of traffic on our roads is down to an antiquated transport system which for me shows the lack of vision of all Governments

The thing there is, it's becoming more common. We should be preparing for it now and not wait until its a regular occurrence.
In West Wales it's a couple of inches of snow every few years but its different up in Northern England and Scotland.
Whatever the reasons the climate is changing and we shoud be preparing for the changes not making excuses. Otherwise our kids will be the ones blaming decades of crap government, just like we do on here.

That's where talks come in. NFU, FUW, Forestry Commission etc. They will all moan and wait. More action needed from them. No good them moaning after the horse has bolted Squire.
