Cooper's first season had a long, dismal middle period but we ended very strongly, so there was certainly optimism that we would do well after the short summer break.

There were expectations that Cooper's season would better his first and get us promoted, which he of course didn't. There are certainly expectations that RM's second season will better his first, and most of the optimistic among us are expecting at least a decent attempt at the playoffs if not better

I don’t think he was expected to even make the playoffs after losing McBurnie and James from the 10th placed finish of Potter. When we managed to do so, it was very much a feeling of us “free rolling” the play offs with very little expectation. Second season again top 10 was probably the expectation after losing Brewster, Gallagher et al. Yet we managed to finish 4th. Again I went into the playoffs expecting to beat Barnsley, which we did.. then that final was a free roll as we were large underdogs. So regardless of the revisionism people will no doubt partake in… none of them could find a post from themselves saying they expect promotion prior to the start of any of Coopers seasons. That’s a fact.
