There are very few consequences for non compliance and the first interaction they have with employers is at interview or during a work trial. There's a lot of work around careers guidance needed for young people. |
Absolutley. The accouontability burden has shifted to much to the side of the school and away from the child and parent. Families in England are soon to be given a "Parental Pledge" from the DfE as to what the can expect from their school as a minimum (and quite right too). I'd love it if we could have the same but the other way around - what a parent must do to support their child.

Our Health Board has a Healthcare Apprenticeship scheme where they train people to be nurses, that’s open up all ages. Under the Equality Act I’d imagine it’s pretty difficult to overlook mature applicants as it’s potential discrimination, however in practice it may be difficult to prove. In England there is no age limit on apprentices. In fact this is a big issue as very few sites will allow 16-18s on site.

Yes, it's called semi retirement.

Exactly this. It is nobody's responsibility for how a child turns out except the parents. Far too many people out there only pay attention to their kids when they're standing in front of the telly. Easier to pack them off with a device or let them wander around on the streets as long as they're not distracting people from Corrie. It's not a class thing either. There are hardworking lower class people who raise their kids properly and wealthy berks who bring up nothing but spoiled brats. A bad parent is a bad parent.
| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |
