Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Thanks for posting that W
Previous for Firearms Refusal to stop Ramming vehicles
Justifiably dispatched
The previous is not a reason in and of itself.
That the family have seen the footage and are actively de-escalating their reaction to the incident suggests that the shooting was entirely justified.

It doesn’t so much suggest it as proclaim it, Doc.
Mayor Khan along with the politicised creatures at the top of The Met were positively clambering over each other in the rush to be the first to announce the officer had been suspended. They should be ashamed, but that’s a human emotion that denotes decency, I doubt they have a shred of it between them.

Loh. I can go back longer than most In 81 ,I was barely out of my probationary period and the outcry from the Left was appalling. Times were rough and industry imploding
In a way, isn’t that time,it was actually quite exciting going out in the Bull barred carrier as we honestly thought this was a civil war starting and we could simply do what was necessary to get home . I was there the first night and was out for 15 hours solid .
We were battered bruised and bloodied and Liverpool s very own Police Authority leader blamed Police for it all. She hated the Police ,as do many

Didn’t Ken Oxford try to back away and leave his officers in the shit after Toxteth?

That the reaction of those who are so close to he-who-must-not-be-named-or-Brynnie-will-be-mad-at-me was to immediately blame the officer involved is telling.
This is not America. I have no doubt that all Armed Police in the UK are extremely reluctant to pull the trigger unless they feel that they have no other choice.

Telling but hardly surprising, Doc. It’s what you’d expect and exactly what you get.
As to your second point, exactly right.

From a paperwork/procedure angle alone it is no doubt hugely preferable to not shoot anyone if you can possibly help it, never mind the psychological processes involved.
Whilst I don't doubt that there are many people out there with an inflated opinion of their own hardiness when it comes to taking another human life (For me, I believe that I'd cheerfully pull the trigger on people convicted of animal cruelty), when it actually comes down to brass tacks it's a different story.
I have absolute empathy for anyone actually put in that position.

I don’t blame the family for wanting answers, any of us would if we were in the same position. I can also understand why a large section of the community in London would be up in arms at what’s happened as there’s a deep distrust of the police up there. There has to be transparency.
Public interest is one of the grounds for suspension. After the riots we’ve seen following other high profile incidents involving the police I suspect there was an appetite to try and minimise any potential disorder especially with the Met having to police London following the passing of the Queen. I think these issues may have played a part in decision making.
I’d have thought that as evidence to a possible murder the Top Brass and Sadique Khan wouldn’t have been entitled to access to the camera footage. The murder investigation team would have the footage as would the the IPCC who would have been carrying out their own investigation and no doubt supervising the murder investigation. I suspect the top brass may have had a good understanding of what had taken place even if they didn’t have sight of the footage.
I know there is an investigation to be completed, accounts to be secured etc but its taken the best of 2 weeks to show the family the footage, could a lot of hurt and pain have been spared in doing it earlier?
I feel sorry for the officer, protocol would normally be temporary redeployment to somewhere he/she could be supported, worrying at home is no good for anyone nor is the impact of what’s happened good for the rank and file of policing.

Dr W When a AFO takes this action ,believe me, the first thing the Chief con does is cover himself normally deplying a "spokesman" who will witter on ,disingenuously, about how they empathise with the familiy of the victim/community etc.
Its a thankless job and my son in law packed in his authority quite recently. He would have been sent to London for the funeral as he was sniper trained and hanging around on a tall building for hours on end aint pleasant.

Khan is an absolute menace no doubt. I said earlier in this thread that he is clearly on the side of the criminals, maybe that was a bit of hyperbole but he has a long record of consistently throwing up barrier after barrier to protect the perpetrators and make the jobs of the rank and file officers as hard as possible to deal with them.
