| Strikes 20:09 - Oct 24 with 1878 views | Whiterockin | Do they have the same effect as in the past. Since Covid we have all made the best of things and personally I only find the recent strikes as a mild irritant. I understand the right to strike, the reasons and they are justified but I'm just asking if they are having the same effect. | | | | |

The problem is if nobody strikes nothing gets addressed, people going to work is seen as no problem by those in control. Over the last say 6 or 7 years most household bills have gone up by over £500 usually a lot more, last payrise i can remember was 0.5%. I'm afraid it doesn't quite cut it when there are mortgages to pay, kids to feed etc. |
I understand where you are coming from but strikes always result in job losses too. Royal Mail have said they will cut thousands. The only cure for this is a government that stops pandering to the rich and corporations, a government that changes the rules so corruption and self serving types are weddled out. I guess that's where I can agree with Dr W, pay politicians more and tell them they can have absolutely NO outside interests.

| Strikes on 07:00 - Oct 26 by felixstowe_jack | It is more about left wing unions trying to bring down a democratically elected government. The unions are more than happy to sacrifice a few jobs just to achieve their political goals. |
Rubbish. Railworkers having a strike are called out for disruption and economic costs. The nation mourning though - huge disruption and huge economic costs. But nothing said. Its almost like the reason for the disruption determines how the media cover it.

Aye those in charge will always try to get away with paying the bare minimum or employing the bare minimum. Leads to a rubbish service all round. I think getting rid of the blanket pay rises would be a good start to trying to fix things, reward your good staff. Blanket rises lead to good staff not being bothered as they get treated the same as the rubbish. I had someone telling me the other day that due to Sunak being so well off he wouldn't be swayed by money/lobbyists. Did make me laugh though.

Sunak will be swayed by his friends and, as he is very rich, his very rich friends will be in his ear.
