| Nov 5th on 16:36 - Nov 4 by felixstowe_jack | Just ban pets who sh*t everywhere and owners who never clear mess up or leaving the bags hanging from trees. |
What a stupid post. So, shall we ban football as a small minority treat it as an excuse to cause mayhem ? Majority of pet owners are responsible and clean up after their dogs. I either put my bags in a bin or take them home.

| Nov 5th on 09:42 - Nov 6 by STID2017 | Gone too far with Christmas. After losing my wife in 2018 the four Christmases since have been miserable affairs for me. Looking forward to this Christmas for the first time with my new partner, whilst never forgetting those we have lost [Post edited 6 Nov 2022 9:51]

Exactly. Humans by far the most dangerous species. That is why many like their pets more than some humans

| Nov 5th on 17:58 - Nov 5 by Boundy | There’s a common denominator regarding dog waste on pavements etc and discarded bottles , red hot buried bbqs left on beaches , it’s humans I’m currently trying to calm down my terrified two year old dog yet again through no fault of his is desperately trying to get away from the loud bangs surrounding him , yet again caused by humans , for me the sooner they ban private purchase and just have a public display ONE day of the year can’t come soon enough |

Had a call yesterday from a family member telling me about a display she had attended at another family member's house. While she was explaining about it I muted the tv and my poor dog, who had relaxed a little, started hearing the fireworks again and getting upset. Had to get her off the phone and calm the dog down all over again. One man's meat and all that. Hate fireworks sorry - no need for them. Light shows etc are much better

Thank you. I agree the excesses of Christmas and commercial pressure is not good. The opportunity to enjoy time with family who live away and / or are busy working is to be cherished though. Enjoy your new grandchild and the dog

I don't like fireworks either though my dog was unusually calm this year, maybe he's going deaf. I am all for only having organised displays now. Modern fireworks are much louder so probably more dangerous. I'd guess there's a lot get imported illegally too. This year there were no displays near my home but some were let off locally and though they were qute far off they still made our windows rattle, we could feel the concussion blast of the loudest.

Millennium night they put fireworks on Kilvey Hill. The fog meant that nobody could see the display.

| Nov 5th on 13:21 - Nov 4 by onehunglow | Anyone doubting Bonfire night gets pellets. I hate Halloween too and the grotesque mischief night where we tell our young citizens it’s ok to be anti social and cause mayhem because it’s only a laugh . Contro loves this ,many hate it Next up,the time of the year when people get into debt to buy things for ungrateful kids many of whom ditch them by January 1st . Many are happy with the wrapping paper. Try it with a two year old . Then ,we get hammered, for a laugh, then kick the shyt3 out of anyone that accidentally bumps into you. No ? Then distant relatives pop around who expect you to feed and water them before you realise actually detest each other more than you previously thought. Then it’s bland white meat accompanied with Brussels sprouts ,which appear out of nowhere to fester on our plates ,complete with …what’s that…Cranberry sauce,an American abomination that should stay in Vermont or New Hampshire along with that disgusting Maple syrup. By this time, you re praying something of interest pops up on telly so you don’t have to listen to these cretins anymore Reading Boxing Day innit .. Merry forking Christmas |
I absolutely agree with you about Halloween OHL. There is something sinister about it all. Of course it's only going to get bigger as there are commercial interests involved. It's become huge in the US and we in the UK are following, like we seem to do with most things involving commerce and lifestyle.

Why would we want kids to take a perverse pleasure in graveyards ,death, and all things gruesome . It’s laughable it’s seen as fun.

None pet owners don't have to deal with the fallout and trauma caused to innocent animals do they ? Outdated barbaric and unnecessary tradition that should be consigned to the dustbin. Or at best limited to official public displays one night a year
