But what do the press concentrate on, he didn't mention the "Markles" Great stories with William going to church with his young family, the future of the RF and they want to talk about that pair of whimpering narcissists.

| the Kings speech on 18:37 - Dec 28 by Catullus | The only speech I'm interested in hearing the King make is the one where he dissolves th monarchy! Down with the house of lords and the antiquated "honours" system, most of the recipients wouldn't know honour if it kicked them in the nuts, or anywhere else. |
In your name, you don't speak for the majority Cat.

I would rather have the monarchy than not, they do a tremendous amount of good work and lift our profile throughout the world. One or two are bad eggs, as in most families. As for the honours list, many "normal" people get knighted for their work in the community.

I simply believe OUR monarchy is outdated and its subjects still defer to the Crown. It perpetuates class divisions clearly and they are irrelevant for most of not all until a Royal Occasion comes along when the grotesque largesse comes out to play. Gold Coaches etc when people really are freezing to death . Good works then. Sorry but they have a duty ,a duty that is merely titular in most cases. Genetically, they have always been rotten with Edward V111 a shining example right up to Andrew . It is blood line stuff. A life of excess and meaningless drivel . Some will disagree but they underpin all that is wrong with us

I’d say that folk like Braverman and Patel show are a great example of what is wrong with society. Hatred and callousness whilst people like JRM show how people with real money look down on the rest of us. Met people like that in Uni. At least the main people in the Royal Family do do a lot of good. Prince’s Trust has done a lot of good. It needs trimming down a lot but as an institution it’s not going anywhere, the Coronation will bring a lot of money and well needed interest into and in the country.

Absolutely they’re not our betters but they represent British history going back centuries. It’s important to preserve that. The Queen was a figurehead and had no power, Charles, it seems, intends to speak out on the environment and appears to be a force for good. Seb Coe gave an interview where he said that when they were bidding for London 2012, Paris put on an incredible presentation, very professional, looked amazing. They, he said, simply invited the delegates into a room, where the Queen was. They were blown away. I’m neutral when it comes to the RF, personally i tuning they’ve treated Harry’s wife appallingly but the rest of the world can’t get enough. Post Brexit we need all the help we can get.

Many people get an OBE or MBE but how many ordinary people have been knighted? Capt Tom...Alan Sugar, he was ordinary once I guess. otherwise it's mostly people who have done something for the government of the day and often something not morally or ethically decent.

If these ludicrous medals harking back to a bygone Empire were to mean anything then Kevin Sinfield should already be a Sir. Not only that but moved tO the House of Lords like multi billionaire Sid James head of Tut Empire of Shyte . We actually award knighthoods to the most ruthless bastards in business who cream their pockets first and foremost . I’m expecting a knighthood for Beckham before long . Ambassador to all .

Imo most if not all who do good works for others do so because their inherently good people and certainly not for any reward or public recognition , even a staunch republican country such as France has some sort of honours system , a country which disposed of its monarchy over 300 hundred years ago still clings to public recognition. There is a structure for awards, similar to military awards the bigger the influence on events / conditions for others the higher the award , anyone can be nominated by anyone so imo regardless on whether we have a monarchy or not the UK should still keep a honours system because we as a nation are still charitable towards others either in time or money .

That's why I put "down with the antiquated honours system" because a modern version where people who deserve it ar rewarded would be welcome. Getting an honour because you donated to a political party or whitewashed an investigation is not right. Kevin Sinfield deserved an honour. Look at the Lords and how many deserve to sit there, Michelle Mone? All those Tory and Labour peers simply because they donated or did favours. When it comes to generous acts, Margaret Thrush deserves a damehood more than Chakrabarti.

I agree , the recent events show that certainly the HOL should have been abolished decades ago , an antiquated system ,selected & run by friends of a friend of a friend for the benefit of those friends. The recent news about so called "lady" Mone is just another example of pure greed by our so called betters and if just another reason why thew whole political system in this country needs a total reset
