Morgan Whittaker transfer in jeopardy ? Kevin Nisbet enters the frame 30th Jan 2023 10:54
Morgan Whittaker has competition for the ‘number nine’ jersey at Rangers now that Kevin Nisbet has turned down Millwall in a two million pound plus move to London. There is a general feeling that the twenty five year old is a better proposition and clearly more proven in the Scottish Premier League with almost a goal in two games ratio for Hibernian. 0

I think that would depend if we got Ogbene.

Just read the link above about Rotherham wanting up to 2 million for him, can you really us paying that, I certainly cannot, I doubt we'll pay nothing even close to that and rightly so, he's out of contract in less than 6 months.

But I also can't see Morgan staying here, with the perceived relationship he seems to have with Martin.

Its absolutely clear to anyone with sense as to why he was brought back, its virtually guaranteed that the Winter/Yanks had, had a call from Rangers about Morgan's availability.

Its interesting to read that Beale has supposedly said that the deal is off, probably a bluff to get the lad cheap, if he does go [as i suspect] to Rangers tomorrow it will be for an undisclosed fee and probably 1.5 to 2 mill, they hold the cards cause no other club seems to have taken an interest.

Regarding Ogbene people are just picking numbers,it has never been £2M. It was a speculative £1M they were asking, they will never get it, if he moves tomorrow IMO it will be for about £300K, or he will move for free at the end of the season.

As for Whitaker, this is a different take saying we never wanted to sell anyway.

That's encouraging then and my angle is totally wrong, not disappointed in that, although I think the lad himself wants to move, so he needs to see some evidence from Martin to include him and give him the game time to gain his confidence.

TBH nobody knows what's going on and what the outcome will be. Smoke and mirrors for the last 48 hours of the window.

You can see how difficult it is when we compile reports this time of year mate.
Although a lot of sources would disagree.
The guy at the herald is a bit flakey though.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

It's like walking through a smoke filled room, it only becomes clear when you are out the other side. Many have an agenda and are only reporting and printing what suits them.

The owners like players of this profile. 22 years old with pedigree and high poteential transfer fee potential. Martin's contract is up for renewal. I highlighted this my "Why Whittaker might stay" thread.

The owners cannot tell Martin who to pick but can given him a clue.

Having said that it would not surprise me at all if he want to Glasgow and a player like Matondo perhaps came the other way as juicy make weight. He once scored 4 or maybe 5 v Swansea u21 three years back.

He has bombed and moved around to much for his own good like Wayne Routledge.

So, if Rangers don’t get Whittaker it means we are stuck with a player we rate at £3,000,000
Or,
Swansea City gains a forward valued at £3,000,000 !!

No doubt the fans will be right behind him.

Said from the start I hoped he stayed.

As long as he puts in the same effort & commitment as he had at Plymouth then why wouldn't we

Let’s hope RM firstly, gives Whittaker enough game time to adjust to championship football, and
Secondly, to play him where he can show his potential,ie. in the No10 role, of assisting and scoring goals.
Personally I’ve always thought him, Garrick and Joseph had good potential if played in their preferred positions, and that’s what a good coach should recognise, make them better at what their good at. not used as square pegs in round holes.
We certainly need some pace and guile, and Whittaker ticks both boxes.
Please don’t feck him up, and give him a good chance to release that potential Mr Martin.
That is, if he’s still a SCFC player tomorrow. Nothing would surprise me with The Shysters.
