US mass shootings 22:12 - Mar 28 with 7865 viewsbritferry

130 times this year where 4 or more people have been killed in an incident.

I just can't understand why they like to target schools, Ok, the kids can't fight back but what the hell have they done to deserve being shot at their age?

Poll: Which kid would you give money to?

So you don’t think the shooter is an extremist?

That’s an interesting take.

Is this shooting linked to the "trans day of vengance" or is the only link the trans issue.

To me it seems to be a distraction from the fact that someone being treated for a mental disorder was legally allowed to buy, own and keep seven guns.

You tell me, an activist shooting up a religious school which is then celebrated by other trans activists. Whether this incident was a direct relation to this “day” or not has very little relevance, the fact it is resonating with thousands of people suggests it’s an issue.

You brought up the mental health aspect of the incident, which has a very clear link to the mental health aspect surrounding Hale’s gender identity. The suicide rate amongst trans community is higher than World War 2 prisoners of War, going through such a thing can certainly cause undue stress and the data is clear.

I have no issue with anyone who wish to live their life appearing as the opposite sex or any other branch of gender that are now on the radar, people can do as they please as long as it’s legal. But these people need to be supported with the mental health side of it, as opposed to turning a blind eye.

So the debate surrounding mental health, gender dysphoria and it’s effect on not only themselves but others is a very apt conversation to have.

It has been demonstrated.

Again, there are 400 million guns in circulation. Making guns illegal will only stop the law abiding citizens from being able to defend themselves.

It’s a cute idea that criminals and murderers would comply, but it’s not realistic unfortunately. So any life saved by a member of the public is a net benefit.

The obsession is with their constitution because it’s under threat, it’s silly to narrow that down to “guns”. The Christmas card is clearly a demonstration of their support for that right. I highly doubt their daily lives are devoted to guns, which would come under “an obsession”.

It’s just a cheap way to put the issue into a neat box by labelling as such.

The comparison with Ukraine is an easy one. They have genuine threat to life, of themselves and their families - so they all own guns. It’s not an obsession, it’s an obvious step taken when under those circumstances. 20,000 murders per year in the States would suggest this is not an obsession as billed but a very real and understandable reaction to it.

Why would it be easier with a rifle? Most rifles only hold 1-2 bullets, a handgun often holds 6-8. I think you are talking about assault weapons, which don’t mean rifles. It’s a common misconception.

With regards to restricting gun ownership, it’s futile. You seem to think if Hale wasn’t able to buy a gun then he/she would have just thought “ah damn, can’t do it now”. Guns are sold privately and there is nothing anyone can do about it.

The issue is the mental health aspect, not the retail side of guns. Now playing into these narratives around gender identity is going to absolutely destroy a large portion of society’s mental health, it’s not being treated as a mental health issue, it’s being treated as a genuine biological branch of gender. Kids are believing they are now ‘furries’ because of a tick-tok trend and everyone has to pretend.

So it can be demonstrated that there are less lives lost to guns in US states with more liberal gun laws? I'm yet to see it.

I'm no gun expert but did Hale use a rifle or and assault weapon? I think you said it wasn't an assault weapon? It's a moot point anyway the big gun he/she used was lethal and held 30 bullets.

It would have been considerably nmore difficult for Hale to carry out the shooting if he/she wasn't allowed to legally own weapons becasue of mental illness, not impossible, but more difficult.

I don't get the trans diatribe either, apart from this shooting being underatken by a trans person with a mental disorder I don't see the link.

It can be demonstrated that you have more chance of saving your own life by having a gun than not having one.

The private market is all that is needed for anyone of any persuasion to get their hands on a gun which circumvents any restriction you can think up.

You said “rifle” which is a broad term, do you mean the specific rifle used or just rifles in general?

It would have been zero more difficult, how exactly would it be harder? Do you think it’s harder to buy privately where no license is needed or any checks at all, or retail where there are checks?

You are pretending you don’t see the link between mental health and these incidents. This intentional ignorance and turning a blind eye is part of the problem.

This incident is being exploited by people on both sides of the trans rights debate as this thread is demonstrating.

How do we know Hale's mental health relates to their gender identity? We don't, it could be a symptom and not the cause.

I don't think we know that gender dysphoria is a mental health issue do we, that seems to be your opinion?

I know two trans people, both of those consider their gender dysphoria to be associated with neurodivergence. That's not a mental illness. We need to diagnose it, regcognise it and support them not alienate them as some sort of crazy freak.

I'm not advocating full gender neutrality by the way but a sensible level of acceptance.

Because gender dysphoria IS linked to mental health issues, I just told you the suicide rate.

Don’t take my word for it, take a Cambridge study if you like:

https://www.cambridge.org/core

“ Individuals with GD have higher rates of psychiatric disorders and social stressors.”

It’s great that you know two people who don’t suffer mental health problems as a result of their GD, many are not as fortunate as the data shows.

You are pretending to not see the obvious.

You also have more chance of killing an innocent person if you have a gun than not having a gun.

Do you really think it's as easy to buy a gun from a backstreet criminal if you are a transgender graphic designer as it is from a gun shop? Apparently in Tennesee there are no background checks, it's literally about the ease of supply.

Perhaps it is religion that is the problem? Perhaps they should consider medical science rather than the words of a book written thousands of years ago by persons unknown.

I'm not being ignorant or turning a blind eye, in fact quite the opposite.

Which would make you a murderer and a criminal.

We are talking about normal people defending themselves, not attacking others. These people with murderous intentions will get a gun regardless if they are allowed at a retail store.

What do you mean “backstreet criminal”?

Private sales, not backstreet criminals, and yes it’s super easy. There are 400 million in circulation, you reckon it’s tough to get someone to sell you one?

https://revealnews.org/article

So religion is at fault for those children dying?

That’s what the activists are saying too. Quite shockingly.

You said it is a mental health issue, not linked to mental health issues.

Are you really surprised that gender dysphoria is linked to mental health issues with the kind of prejudice trans people have to put with and is demonstrated on here?

From that study:-

"In comparison with the general population, persons with GD have higher rates of depressive symptoms (64.5%), suicidality (42.9%), substance use disorders (40.2%), general distress (33.8%), anxiety (25.9%), discrimination, and stigma, that contribute to mental health problems. "

Quite frankly I'm not surprised.

All schools should accept gender dysphoria as an issue, it's a medical condition not a decision. Again I'm not advocating gender neutrality but acceptance, I've certainly seen more evidence of it's existence than 99% of what religious schools base their existence on.

It is a mental health issue, you believe you should be in another body, I couldn’t think of anything that qualifies for that more. It’s an awful thing to mentally have to deal with.

Whether that leads to mental illness however is dependent on the individual, the studies are clear that in an alarming amount that suffer with GD, it does.

Again, the health issues seen in people with GD is not wavering in pre or post transition, so acceptance appears to not be a factor. Also the suicide rate being higher than World War 2 concentration camp victims, or black slaves before the civil rights movement suggests acceptance also is not reason.

Unless you think being trans in one of the most accepting societies in history is worse than being in a Nazi concentration camp that is?

Accepting that people have these disorders is probably the best way to go about it and provide the support they need.

Pretending it’s other people’s fault is dangerous and completely against the science.

I haven’t looked into autism, couldn’t tell you.

Why would a thread like this be particularly bad to read? Surely the GD itself is the cause of the mental health problem rather than people recognising GD is a prime mover in causing it?

What about a devout religious person reading your views on religion? After someone has just gone in and targeted their children in all likelihood for similar reasons.

I don’t know anyone who has ever said anything bad about people with GD, unless you think citing very clear studies showing the mental health implications of GD is bad?

This is simple.

We have an activist, bursting into a religious school and killing indiscriminately. The links to GD and psychological issues is well documented and accepted.

I’m not entirely sure what we are discussing, or pretending isn’t the case here.

On what basis do you believe GD is a mental illness then? It seems to be guess work and a lack of understanding.

The persecution and abuse of people with GD is the problem that contributes to their mental health issues, on top of the mental turmoil they go through when coming to terms with their condiditon. The condition isn't easy, the abuse makes it worse.

This thread has morphed in to a theory that a mass shooting being undertaken by a trans person becasue he was trans, not becasue perverse gun laws allow a person with mental illness to legally buy and keep 7 guns. That is the problem, not why he did it, he did it becasue he could, very easily and irrespective of any other reason.

I don't think an actual motive has been discovered or announced? It's conclusions drawn and band wagons jumped on. Trans man shoots people, well that's obviously beacuse he's trans.

There have been plenty of examples of trans abuse on here, drawing comparisons between them and paedophiles and homosexuals took over an entire thread a while back. Even without saying anything bad about the trans community a lack of acceptance is the a problem. That's before you consider the sideways looks, the whispered conversations and the relatively regular physical abuse. There is a trans woman working in a large shop in Swansea, she was serving at the till yesterday and most people in a queue of about 8 were commenting about her to each other. One father was pointing and laughing with his young son. How do you think that would make you feel?

I have a friend who is the mother of a trans boy who lives in mid Wales. They're lives are very difficult becasue of it, not becasue of the GD itself but the stigma associated with it. He's not mentally ill yet, but most likely has a lifetime of abuse to come so it's probably in the post.

I have no problem in discussing my views on religion with anyone, I don't wish to offend and regognise the beliefs that they hold. I don't share them. Science proves GD is real, but nodoby knows if God is or not, yet people devote their lives to God, but for some reason it is the trans community that are seem as the oddballs.

Mental health issue, not illness. Thinking you belong in a different body is a mental health issue, whether that develops into a mental health illness is down to the individual but the prevalence is high. This has been studied by medical and psychological professionals and the data is clear.

What abuse and persecution are you seeing? This world is incredibly accepting, we have trans people competing in sports with their preferred gender, we have trans people winning woman of the year despite being biological males and wide spread support in media, film and television.

To attribute the mental health connection to other people’s attitudes is extremely disingenuous, factually incorrect (demonstrably so) and utterly unhelpful.

Being allowed to buy a gun doesn’t make someone mentally unwell to the point they want to kill children, so putting that as the reason is a little odd. There is no direct correlation between gun availability and mental health issues.

If you want to pretend there is no connection with an activist shooting up a religious school then go ahead. It’s a bit sinister though if you ask me, especially when it’s backed up with noises that it’s religions fault.

I’m yet to see anything other than factual and scientific backed data showing the prevalence to inherent mental health illness and the obvious link between trans ACTIVISTS (I’ll put that in bold) and their dislike for religion and religious schools.

Being trans doesn’t mean you are a militant trans activist like you appear to be putting into peoples mouths. Just as being a Muslim doesn’t mean you are a Muslim extremist.

To pretend you see no links here however is baffling.

Where is the evidence that trans issues were a motive in this attack? From what I've seen there was an apparent obsession with a former friend who died in a car accident.

How on Earth am I suggesting that being trans in 2023 is worse than being a jew in the 1940's or a slave, that's quite ridiculous?

Some of the world is accepting, and that is great within reason, but a lot of it isn't. My friends son has been pointed at by other parents in the school yard, had children tell him their parents won't let them bother with him and had graffiti about him daubed on walls in the town in which they live. This all happened before he had left primary school, what mental impact do you think that has on a child?

A colleague has been beaten up on the street several times. Purely for being trans.

I mentioned the trans woman in a shop I encountered yesterday.

Make friends with a trans person and see what they go through.

Again, I don't understand how this thread has descended in to a trans issue. A person with mental health issues was legally allowed to buy and keep 7 guns. The law of Tennesee makes no provision for removing guns from someone with a mental illness. That is what is responsible for this incident.

130 odd mass shootings so far this year. This killer happened to be trans so it’s now a trans issue?

I don’t think so.

There is some evidence that these events are inevitable given the lax US laws. Immature people with psychological issues appear to have the right to carry arm and use them.

If you then vote to maintain the lax laws it could be argued that in fact the great US public have voted for these events.

People could then say. "Do not cry crocodile tears this is what you voted for" after the corpse of a 6 year old girl is sent to the mortuary.

Again, I don't understand how this thread has descended in to a trans issue. A person with mental health issues was legally allowed to buy and keep 7 guns. The law of Tennesee makes no provision for removing guns from someone with a mental illness. That is what is responsible for this incident.

You just have to be pretending.

Again, an activist walks into a religious school, shoots it up and then thousands of trans activists rejoice. Police reveal there was a manifesto left by Hale, and admits there is some theory behind the trans issues but won’t release the manifesto as doesn’t want the cause to be glorified.

You can think there is no motive there if you like, but to any reasonable thinking human - it’s pretty obvious.

You are suggesting that because you think the mental health aspect is simply down to other people not accepting them (even though we are in the most accepting era in history).

I informed you that it doesn’t matter if it’s post or pre op, suicide rates are astonishingly high in people with GD, higher than both African American slaves and WW2 concentration camp victims. So it’s safe to say having GD itself is the cause of the psychological problems, not people being non accepting. Otherwise you would not see the rates being way higher than the two most persecuted groups in modern history, and I mean ACTUALLY persecuted. Measurable and demonstrable.

You think by stating the obvious it means you are slamming everyone with GD.

If a radical Christian activist walked into a mosque and shot everyone, you would have no issues making the obvious link. Wouldn’t mean you were against Christians as a whole, just the extremists.

I have seen nothing to state they were a Trans activist. Nothing whatsoever. Have you?

Apparently they had only referred to themselves as Aiden since August following the death of someone they were obsessed with.

Even if this is a Trans issue, the salient points are that someone with mental illness owned guns that could not be removed from them.

I don't know what was in the manifesto and neither do you.

From what I have read they were planning on killing family members first but they had gone out and went to the school because it had poor security, they were then planning on going to a shopping mall.

This is not a Trans issue. It's a gun issue.

You want it to be a gun issue, but it’s not. There was no record of mental illness only an emotional problem he/she was seeing the doctor about, but this “known mental illness” thing you keep going on about is completely false.

I understand you don’t like guns, but twisting a very obvious case to make it just about guns probably does your view far more harm than good. There is far more to this story than simply one about guns.

So there is nothing to suggest they were a Trans activist despite you mentioning it several times and claiming it is the reason for the attack?

To my knowledge this is the first of hundreds of mass shootings perpetrated by a Trans person with an emotional disorder but it's a this is a Trans issue not an availability of weapons issue. Fair enough.

And you question whether or not trans people are victimised?

What is an emotional issue if it's not at least a red flag for someone not to be allowed to own a lethal weapon?

Why is this vitriol allowed to be posted on this site? It's absolutely vile.

Of course there is, Hale just shot up a religious school.

What vitriol are you seeing? I’m seeing you labelling someone having an emotional issue as a mental illness.

You absolutely should not be able to come out with the nonsense you did about religion causing this. That’s the closest thing to vile vitriol I’ve seen on this thread, in between you trying to put “oddball” labels in peoples mouths in relation to a group of people.

We are talking about extremists here, not trans people in general. You need to understand that. Just like we talk about Muslim and Christian extremists when they commit atrocities, we aren’t talking about Christians and Muslims in general.

The fact you have absolutely no idea about the violent trans activist movement in the States tells me you should probably do some reading before commenting further.

The vitriol is your assumption that this is a trans issue based on nothing more than assumption. A religious school was involved but it's a poorly secured school, where they were a former pupil (before coming out), where they were receiving counselling for an emotional disorder and a school they associated with a dead friend they were infatuated with.

I didn't know about the other shooters but having a quick look one didn't kill anyone and attempted a shooting in retaliation for bullying. So much for a tolerant society hey! Also in this shooting a policeman was shot by a security guard in a Friendly fire incident. A good guy with a gun obviously works!

One identified as non binary before their trial. That's a bit suspicious isn't it?

And the other had struggled with mental illness and gender identity for most of their lives and argued with an employee shot them and two others

At least two of the weapons involved were legally owned. One of those is another weapon legally owned by someone with a long history of mental illness. It's madness.

I've never said religion caused this. I'm not trying to put oddball in people's mouths, just read previous threads about transgender topics.

What "emotional issues" that require medical treatment and counseling aren't mental illness?

I don't know much about violent trans activists in the states., and won't be commenting further, but I do think you need to work on your emotional intelligence. You seem to have incredibly entrenched and inflexible views. Get some experience of the trans and other minority communities. You might like it.

Why is common sense vitriol?

Didn’t you say it was a religious issue? Is that vitriol? Or is that okay?

You are being silly now.

I’d hope if you do comment further you will actually look what happening in America with the trans activists. If you have no idea what’s going on there, how can you apply the context properly?

A bill has just been passed to stop children from transitioning genders via surgery. Hence the backlash and subsequent multiple Capitol storming across many States. To not know that, yet comment on such things is crazy.
