The 'gang' just realise he'll almost certainly make the same errors next season as he did this, last and at MKDs. Alternatives … Osian Roberts Frank de Boer Zedane Rodgers Potter Mislav Karoglan Patrick Viera Marsch Cannavaro Other than Roberts all have average points per game that would have us top six. |
We couldn’t afford most of them

| A gang on here want Russ gone on 17:49 - May 3 by onehunglow | Doing well ,for me,tends to suggest achievement of some kind. Double doubling Cardiff City was nice but not really significant in the grand scheme of things . We have seen horrific goals conceded repeatedly, endless meaningless passing and teams well beaten and we simply take our foot off the gas. Signs recently that futile defensive passing has not gone away |
So you agree he’s improved as teams have been well beaten, that’s a positive area for your concerns ?

Keith. I know you support him so bear that in mind with your interaction with me. I am unsure about this chap. I want to “like” him. I want stability and some continuance . It’s just a case of me not trusting him. Why you may ask.I have to say it’s a gut reaction to what I see. I am happy to admit that. I can’t watch our team live whilst he is there. Now,This is me being honest. I don’t believe the “support” for him is unfettered either ,proven when we were on that appalling run ..Many are concerned. All live in hope. So,to answer your question…I don’t know. Football is often bereft of logic or reason, simply emotion . I am guilty of that . If he is so super a coach then a lucrative offer will come in for him and he will be off ski. Then, what will we do. So,do I want him gone? Yes. However ,it depends on whom the owners can bring in to replace and I’d rather keep him than see us gamble again. I hope I have explained myself adequately. When I see “ gang” I can’t but help to hear Paul Gadd and his band belting out catchy crap in six inch platforms

I don’t support him. I merely see his ideas as holding water for now. If he was sacked as I’ve said I would accept it, and as I have also said my only concern would be why and what happens next. We would see an unknown replace him ( nobody would know who he is in the majority ) and be very much in the same boat as we are now with a manager learning from his own mistakes. Then all we would hear and see is more people disillusioned in the new guy. Anyone who thinks the majority owners would appoint a well known manager ( most are failures elsewhere ) is living in cloud cuckoo land. I mean Koeman ? Rodgers ? More chance of me and you running the show.

Who would you have as Manager? On a lowish salary with minimum budget of course. Name a name.

This is exactly the point that just isn't coming across to some people, they are living in the PL years, we just don't have the pull that PL and top championship clubs have.

We have had 2 good runs in this season, 6 wins in 7 and currently 8 games unbeaten. It's whats happened the rest of the time that has quite a few people concerned. Why did he persist for 21 games with a failed strategy? Why not change earlier? If he keeps things the way they are now, the quicker, more forwatd thinking football then I reckon we will all be happy. Time will tell.

Bielsa or Savarese. Both attainable in our wage structure and both would love to come here with the budgets available in the summer.

Don’t think the club could afford any of them tbh. The only way the Club would get them is if the person had a pressing desire to prove a point and really wanted a job. Given the prospect of a limited transfer kitty and the potential the manager will have to wheel and deal etc, I can’t see any of the above or anyone with a decent reputation going for the gig. The ones who’ve recently been made unemployed are unlikely to take any job in the short term as it will impact on they settlement fee re the previous sacking.

Between October and March we were abysmal. It was right to question what Martin was doing and whether he should remain. Remaining sceptical over the new upturn in form is what he has brought really. Unfortunately I don't see the current form transitioning to next season, but nonetheless will be behind the team.

It’s a fatuous question much used to try to win an argument. I am not employed by the club and also not involved in the football business, like you. Had I been,I would have an idea of who was available Yiu suggest that Martin should stay in situ purely because we couldn’t replace him, which takes us into that little old Swansea that grinds my gears .

Time will tell, my issue is Russ is not result forcused ....all his interviews highlight this espicallly the thread yo put up from coach magazine Im not so sure a bout this feared side and needing thought but we need more thought now from managers since Russ has ditched plan A

I don’t see us as little old Swansea. But these owners will not pay the going rate for a proven Manager, so it would be an unproven almost unknown, who would have to start from scratch, and wheel and deal. It might work, it might not. I see us in a better position next season if we keep the current manager, than taking a huge gamble on an unknown. That’s me. Of course, the club could raid Notts County for their Manager. He knows the players. But would he do a better job? Probably not.

Define proven? We paid the going rate for Potter, who had had success in Europe. Once again, the myth is spun that ownership avoid spending. Time and time again they have spent. Too much in the beginning, more carefully now.

How can yuo be sure Luke Williams couldnt do a better job than Russ? HI srecord in achievement is greater than our current manager yes we seem to be finishing the season in better form buit lets not let that erase the period between October and March where he persisted with a strategy that most oculd see was not working and then he reverted to a formation and approach that got him out of "trouble " last season. I hope you are right but there can be ni excuses next season as said previously Martin will become our longest serving manager for a long time...serving more than 2 seasons

Feared? I dont see it myself. We are mid table and the season is all but over, people will look to see what business happens close season and if we sell/lose 3-4 players and don't sign anyone worthwhile then people will possibly not be at all scared. Much thought? managers that have pressed us high and hard have gotten results, managers that sit back have been punished. Mark Piroe and Grimes tight, put pressure on Fisher and close us down quickly when the keeper plays it short.
