Given how many idiots are on the roads, the delivery drivers under pressure and the actual difficutly in staying below 20 (it is difficult, I do it every week when I go to Cardiff and it's harder than you'd think, specially going downhill) there will be a lot of speeding going on.
The Senedd expect the fire brigade to become a road safety unit, how stupid is that? The fire brigade have their job and it's hard enough for them to do that the way the Senedd behaves.
Then there's the pollution problem, all those cars tootling around in second gear will fill the streets with pollution, it'll rise and rise and the few accidents stopped by this madness will be replaced tenfold and more in the years to come by serious health issues, those with asthma can look out, better buy your respirators now.
I wonder if cancers will also increase?

The roads are a mess at the moment with lots of conflicting signage re speed limits.
My advice to those with a dash cam is make sure you keep your footage for 2 weeks (which is the time the police/gosafe have to serve you with a Notice of Intended Prosecution) because if you’re speeding and it’s down to confusing signage you’ll have a potential defence - if you don’t keep the footage you may find that by the time you get the NIP the council will have removed the confusing signage.
In terms of people like Lee Waters, the good citizens of Llanelli need to make it clear he’s on borrowed time and that he’ll be voted out at the next election. Same needs to happen with the others - if the strength of feeling is there amongst the masses it will work - hopefully focus his mind. | | | |

Probably because people are trying to avoid accidentally driving into Wales and get hit by the new laws.

Apart from a peak of a 100 at 3.48 am this morning the other peaks are mostly 10-20. TBH with nearly 400,000 signatures on the petition I would have thought there were more, the way some are going on about English tory signatures. Just shows that propaganda doesn't always match facts. |  | | |

After looking into this further. The petition was started on 13th September, there were Welsh postcode search peakes of 59 on September 12th, 100 on September 8th, 95 on September 3rd and so on with peaks of 80 to 100 going back months, so prior to the petition being set up.
Now either the English tories are brighter than we give them credit for and were pre empting the petition or these postcode searches were people looking for property as is often the case.
Old Guto is not the brightest and never has been, but you think he would have done a little research before putting his name to something. | | | |

I would suggest the only time the majority of drivers stick rigidly to the speed limit is when there are average speed camera’s in the area or they are aware of a static speed camera ahead. |  | | |

It sounds like Mark Baker and anyone who believes him is a moron.
Such a huge policy, that was clearly in the manifesto of Labour and Plaid, didn't have proper consultation? How much more of a consultation do you want?
1 in every 3 adults in Wales voted for it. They actually put a cross in the box on a ballot paper of a party that was going to introduce it , after registering to vote in that election, most of those actually went to a polling station to do so.
This is getting pathetic and making the Welsh electorate look stupid. Especially those who are now moaning about something they could have voted against introducing but couldn't be arsed to do so and are whining about it like spoilt children.

It'll settle down by the middle of next month.
Drakeford will depart before the next Senedd election and whoever takes over will promise a "review" of the speed limit as part of their leadership bid, and their supporters will applaud them. That's what will then happen and things will change to something like 20 mph outside schools and playgrounds and 30 mph elsewhere.
It'll all blow over and be forgotten about. But will have wasted millions.
And then most people won't vote in the next Senedd election.

Mark Baker has a decision to make. He was asked by the Senedd if he wished to close the petition as it had reached the required 10,000 to have it considered for debate in the Senedd. Today it will reach 4000,000, 40 times the required amount. Does he close the petition today and let the media have a field day with the tagline, " petition closes with over 400, 000 signatures in less than 10 days". Or does he leave it run and hope to achieve more than the 443,047 vote that Labour received at the last Senedd elections and have the media tagline "petition receives more signatures than Labour at the last Senedd elections".

This IMO will then have a knock on effect with a second petition calling for Westminster to discus holding a referendum on ending devolution in Wales. this petition is currently at 22,000 of the 100,000 required after only four days and is running until March.

The new 20mph law is coming into force on the 17th September and it will mark the end of having socialism in power in Wales.
Welsh Government claim to have supporting evidence stating that reducing to 20mph EVERWHERE saves lives! Yet we get flyers merely claiming that it will, and opinions from doctors that see RTCs coming into A&E. This is NOT evidence. The only true evidence is from Belfast and it states it makes NO DIFFERENCE to RTCs!
At least one of the trial villages in Monmouthshire actually reverted their trial because it was causing absolute carnage on the roads! Mark Drakeford has come out claiming it is a success in St Brides Major but every time I go though there NO ONE is driving at 20mph.
The Welsh Government has FAILED to produce ANY convincing evidence to support these claims of safety. This law is being spearheaded by the WG Climate Change department and NOT Health & Safety!!

The Welsh Government was put there BY THE PEOPLE OF WALES, We are your boss! We demand that this foolish idea be stopped.
