Swansea City cruise to a 3-0 win at the New Den : Pics : Stats : Report 30th Sep 2023 17:57It wasn’t the hardest of tests, and an indifferent Millwall who have had an inconsistent start to the season provided the Swans with little resistance this afternoon. However that’s three games undefeated, one goal conceded and seven scored. The Swans move up to nineteenth in the Sky Bet Championship. Below is everything you need on the game. The report, stats, and much more. 0

| Millwall v Swansea City : Match day thread Updated on 19:54 - Sep 30 by KeithHaynes | He’s trying to do the right thing without the players, that’s our lot atm. Being critical Cullen was pretty invisible today. But he run about a lot. The injuries concern me more currently. Yates and Pedersen joining the others on the treatment table. Thankfully we haven’t got a game this week. |
I’m not against it if all we’re trying to do is buy players time to get back into position. I was just surprised Vetch hasn’t seen us hoof this season. We play that ball multiple times every game. Cullen shouldn’t be in the team in that position IMO. He’s a poacher. He’ll run channels and try to link play, but it’s not his game.

Good. Now stand in the corner and think about what you've done. We are, to a degree, definitely more open to the longer pass than we were under Martin. You could call it a hoof, but then again, the kind of crossfield ball Ashley Williams was fond of fits into the same category and few would label that as such. For what it's worth and with the personnel we currently have I suspect we're veering more toward the Cooper style than the Martin one. When the Ponty Goblin was here we used the channel pass a hell of a lot, and it's perhaps not a coincidence that Jamal Lowe has been brought back to the club. I would expect Duff to make more use of the pace and flair of players far more than Cooper did though. The likes of Celina and Peterson barely got a look in under SC, but until his injury Ginnelly and now Paterson are being used creatively under current management. I'd expect similar to be lined up for Jan, or maybe sooner if a free agent fits the bill. Given the choice of being dull but competitive under Cooper or dull and miles off the pace as we were under Russy, most with a brain would opt for the former, even if with a sense of distaste.

NO.... but back to back 3/0 wins , regardless of the opposition has to be respected... Will I go back to watching us? Regardless of the fact if I don't I've wasted £400+ on a ST ....who knows... |
No need for the personal insult, no matter what you think of him. It seems it took Cheltenham and Barnsley 10 games to get going, and he did to some success. I had doubts a few weeks ago, but he's certainly starting to win me over

Totally agree... I don't like Duff for the reasons I've stated and for his distain, disregard and comments towards our recent success. However, I was cheesed off to see SC leave and if he'd been given Piroe in Jan not the 2 crocked Americans it may well have had a different outcome. RM knew how to manipulate/manage the fanbase, some/many saw through it.... Duff may well prove to be successful, as a swans fan I hope he is . Better than him making a complete Horlicks of the job and we get relegated, doesn't mean anyone has to like him.. ..

Duff's utter disinterest in playing the arse kissing game and spouting the same fan pleasing platitudes as others have is probably the thing I like most about him. I always had a lot more time for Sousa than most for much the same reason. As a fanbase we've always been more fond of the badge kissing, fist pumping types and it's always left a sour taste in my mouth. If Duff wants to keep telling it as it is rather than pandering for easy likes then he can carry on doing it as far as I'm concerned.

Totally agree re Sousa. He taught us how to defend and finished one place higher than Martinez with a team minus the 50 odd goals from Gomez, Bodde and Scotland. But I don't remember any neg comments about his predecessors. I was initially happy with Duff appointment, however his comments and some of our football has turned me off him . But... he's paid to win football matches not be popular... but I suggest he won't get the time/patience RM had if he wins 3 fm 20 , or whatever RM did last yr prior to the Cardiff game

That just suggests too many of our supporters are idiots who will accept months of terrible performances as long as we beat Cardiff. Probably the most accurate thing you've said all night.

If it wasn't for a last minute equaliser at QPR we would have 9pts out 9 since the scum debacle, I would love to play the fvckers now. [Post edited 30 Sep 2023 21:14]

Yes I do . Read my posts and it's quite clear what I thought about RM ..I'd have happily driven him to Southampton My dislike of Duff is down to his comments he's made and his attitude towards our recent past ..which as it happens brought us the most sustained success in 100+ yrs... But he's here to win football matches not be popular and it's quite clear he doesn't really care about fans opinion. That's fine, just hope he carries on winning coz I suggest the fanbase will turn on him quicker than they have regarding other managers. He was booed at Legoland, he was booed at QPR, didn't go to Wednesday game, but by all accounts there wasn't much of a love in from what I was told. A survey on Twitter 10 days ago and 94% wanted him sacked, the same survey tonight after 2 consecutive 3/0 wins and 94% will probably say he's brilliant. Football fans eh?

That’s hardly a ringing endorsement. The thing we like most about a manager invariably should either be the results or the style of football. Alienating the fan base when he had neither was just weird. Saying he’d rather get promoted than beat Cardiff makes sense in theory, but for context, he said it when we had two points after six or seven games. If he’d said it from a position of strength it would have been a great comment. He can say whatever he likes, but he has to back it up. When he made those comments he was a million miles from that. Now he is, he’s nowhere near as abrasive.

It's not meant to be a ringing endorsement. You must be confusing me with a tribalist. I remain uncommitted one way or the other. The most sensible thing you've said there is regarding his comment about promotion being preferable to beating Cardiff making sense in theory. Context is irrelevant. Whether we'd had maximum points from games played or none at all, it's no less true. Unfortunately we have far too many dickhead fans who place beating Cardiff ahead of actually achieving something, which explains why Russell Martin remains so popular despite being pretty f*cking hopeless as a Swans manager. Context is never irrelevant. You’re too bright to believe that. If we were top 6 with 10 games left - yes. As a totally isolated comment- yes. Two days before we play them, with no wins all season and a big chance to redeem himself - it was a crass and delusional comment. As for Martin, there are multiple threads every time they lose, even when we do too. They beat Leeds yesterday and nothing. His detractors are a lot louder than his acolytes. I’d prefer we just forget about him until he gets sacked. More importantly. Credit to Duff yesterday. I said I was going to ignore the Wednesday result and judge him on Milwall and Norwich. I’ve criticised when I thought he deserved it. Only fair to praise him when he gets it bang on.

Since very early on in the season, a few of us have said he can say what he likes when he’s backing it up with performances. Now he’s on a run, I doubt many people care what he says. When we had our worst start since the 90s and he was saying I don’t care what anyone thinks, I did well at Barnsley, that was a bit much.

I guess it's about the definition of hoofball....cross field passes which we have seen thus season are jot aimless hiofball.Others have have mentioned the same thing executed by Ash in the past.....I call hoofball a first time kick upfield looking for anyone...we play into the channels looking for Key for example.....its opinion and interpretation....in my eyes the long aerial passes we sometimes play are bot aimless hoofball
