An opening goal from Matt Grimes put the Swans ahead and only a ridiculous decision by referee Anthony Backhouse saw the Swans robbed of a potential equaliser. 0 Match report, pics, stats and more, click above.

But they didn’t. Can only report what the person taking the time out to write it says.

And we never matched them either so a false report we didn't live with them

Having looked around and seen the game I would say you are in the minority. We were in it right up until the third goal.

In it as far as scoreline but they dominated us,I think if we played them 10 times they would beat us 9 or 10 times don't think we matched them at all, maybe scoreline,it was wave after wave of attacks on time,we might had a few chances but you expect that but they were different class to us if you going be honest and so they should, but dont think we matched them

Poor timing on making those two substitutions put paid to that, we were knocking on the door at that point. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

With their squad and riches a 3-1 loss isn't a disaster.

I agree with this. We didn’t match them or get close to it really. We could have snatched a draw but they were a class above. I don’t know how much that really matters though. They’ve played 12 games and won 11 of them. They are probably wiping the floor with teams every week. They are essentially are PL team who underachieved massively and got relegated. They aren’t really a yardstick to judge ourselves against. In a way it reminded me of our first PL game at Man City, where we were comprehensively outplayed but still came out of it with our heads held high.

And the frightening thing is the gap between the Premier league and the championship is getting wider and wider,if Leicester went up tomorrow I think they would still be relegated even though they by far the best team in championship

This is very true, Burnley walked the league last season and are in a relegation battle now.

It was a good game of football. The swans were unlucky as hell on the day. We will be oright aslong as Burnley don't sack their manager

| Swans prove they can live with the best in the championship on 06:24 - Oct 24 with 1135 views | RichardO | Leicester wanted to play the game to utilise the pace and movement in their team, our tactic was to keep the team solid by dropping deep, so yes they had lots of possession and put a lot of pressure on us but like Cooper's team we soaked that pressure up with some good defending and maybe rode our luck a bit but we took the lead so is that living with them I think so. Did we get things completely right defensively obviously not but I don't mean just the defenders, do you stop the supply from their backs a lot better than we did, I think we should have but dropping back was the tactic used to try and reduce space for them to use their pace and quality. So while we reduced the space we gave their defenders too much time to thread balls through, which in recent weeks we have not allowed teams to do so the constant pressure of trying to defend did take its toll. Did we switch off for the goals as they took a quick corner and similarly for Iheanacho's, yes but we did have enough players back for the corner and we had two central defenders back for Iheanacho's who with his experience played off the shoulder of one and the other didn't anticipate the danger. Did the winger get the better of Key at times yes but I don't think the players around him helped him enough so he could get closer to the winger to stop him having the ball to his feet, Rangel use to make the decision to get close to a winger or drop off and I think Key is good enough but has to gain experience against better players/teams, same could be said about a number of our players as well as our manager but I think that will come with time. Long term injuries may have affected our short term effectiveness but it seems Duff is aware of this and is looking to address the issues he has seen. Can we live with the best in the Championship too early too tell yet we had a number of good spells last year, let's hope we don't get the awful ones. Would be nice to see us outdo Watford today. | | | |
| Swans prove they can live with the best in the championship on 09:12 - Oct 24 with 1112 views | Dr_Winston | We went up against teams with bigger budgets and better players week in, week out in the Prem and still (mostly) held our heads high for seven seasons. The whole idea is to build a system and setup that can counteract the significantly larger budgets available to other sides. That's what we did before, that's what we lost sight of from about 2014 onwards, and that's half of what is regularly stated by Coleman and Watson any time anyone asks them. Unfortunately we pissed two years away on Russy's "process" so basically had to start from Square One again. It's not going to be easy. In all reality it's probably going to be a lot harder than it was before, but not impossible. Ironically the last time we got to the Prem most people expected us to be relegated first season. Even now clubs can and do survive, if they're smart. | |

Was it a case of not managing the relatively small budget we had properly. Players moved on and the squad became weaker, we tried to address some of the shortfalls with loan players after relegation and youngester from the academy when Potter and Cooper managed but with the first year under Martin we needed players in the defence having lost players returned to their club or not tied down the contracts having said that we did bring in much needed centre back in Darling and Wood the following year, many would say a missed opportunity to at least get into the playoff given some of the forward talent we had. Roll onto this year with the loss of a number of players before and during the transfer window we seem to have filled a number of gaps in the team some with short term loans and propects look good but it doesn't take many injuries or recalled loans to make us look thin on thin ground. Think what might have been if Gibbs-White had stay fit for the season he was suppose to have with us. This season rolls on hopefully without many more injuries or at least we have some youngsters who can step up. Edit why did I have to open my big mouth re injuries 🤐 [Post edited 24 Oct 2023 12:35]

| Swans prove they can live with the best in the championship on 14:25 - Oct 24 with 1026 views | RichardO | How many times did we get caught with so many players up the pitch over committing because it took so long to get there, everybody wanted to be the hero forgetting about defending or covering, had a lot of time for Ollie Cooper he went from supporting attackers like Piroe to covering extensively for Manning's runs forward. Manager picks the team and the tactics used. [Post edited 24 Oct 2023 14:44]
