Sadly Mykola is injured, hopefully not for too long.

Can we factor in the poor quality of ball Yates has had to him also Cullen, even when the balls in have been good the number of supporting players has been limited against Watford Cullen was unmrked on the edge of the 6 yard box never to see the ball delivered in, similarly Yates and Paterson had a two against one just beyond the half way line only the ball played to Paterson was bouncing all over the place a better ball to feet woukd have seen a much better chance of a goal, Yates and Cullen are goal poachers get the ball into them they would have a decent success rate of converting into goals.

Spot on Richard.
The issue is we haven’t got hardly any pace to take on men out wide, and in recent seasons we as a club seem to have ignored any player available with the competency to do so.

Yates had a couple of good balls into him the other night in which one he trued flicking the thing when no one on him where as he could have held it and turned which resulted in us losing possession and them scoring, another time he was played a nice ball to his feet only to be outnuscled and defender take the ball off him like candy off a baby if his movement was better instead if standing g still with his back to goal the distribution into him would be better, its not always the passer who makes the pass the movement of the receiving player can make a pass and he's too often static, you got pull defenders too make space which he don't do his movement is non existeent

My complaint with him is his physical strength. He spent most of the time on the ground at Preston away for example. Complaining. I’m unsure why a professional footballer can’t hold the ball up and use their muscle. Fear of taking a whack maybe ?

Either way he needs to work on that for me.

I agree that he took a number of wrong options, too many touches or tried to flick balls on very similar to what Paterson and Lowe have been guilty of in the past trying to make something out of nothing supporting players having run past them.
The last two games we have struggled before that the team as a whole played better.

Noted.

Just don't go claiming that a striker who scored plenty of Championship goals in a struggling side last season is a "parks player".

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

The people moaning about Yates were invisible when he was playing well and scoring,

Weird that 🤔

Not all were invisible, after seeing him a couple of times after we signed him, I said he wasn't for us, in a team that suits his abilities he may be fine, but not for us I'm afraid.

Other opinions are available.

Weird that weird was a word used in this context
Player plays well and scores = praise

Player doesn’t play well and is anonymous = approbrium

Life as in football.

Weird though for a fan to go to a game not bothered if the team lose ,as long as beer is supped and tales told at the bar.
I’ve never met a fan yet not bothered about losing

Fans eh

Those couple of times were in the bad patch where we picked up 2 pts out of 18 yes?

His form has changed since you know 😉👌

Apologies, I still don't think he's for us, belongs in a lower division IMO.

We should be able to fit a player with his skill set into the way we want to play.

Duff strongly hinted we’d be playing an aggressive, pressing game when he got here. We’ve flirted with that in a couple of games without really committing to it. He’d be perfect for that and looked good when him, Cullen and Lowe were popping up all over the final third.

Long balls back to goal or out on the touchline, we can forget it. He’s never going to do well there, neither is Cullen.

14 league goals in 3400 minutes as Blackpool's main man. 39 starts, goal every 240 minutes.

Cullen had 8 in 1200, only 15 starts, goal every 150 minutes. Virtually the same strengths and weaknesses, one cost 7 figures the other has never been considered good enough by a majority of the fanbase.

That’s a fair shout, but you get the feeling Cullen in the same role as Yates won’t happen.
TBH at this moment in time I see no reason why he shouldn’t be given a go.

If only football was played on spreadsheets where nothing but stats matter.

Cullens goals per minute last season was remarkable.

As you say, very similar players.

The spreadsheets only back up what most of us are seeing on the pitch.

Most people with two eyes attached to a functioning brain understand that Yates is better than Cullen. The fact that people feel the need to try and prove the opposite using largely meaningless numbers just confirm that.

A few loose nutters trying to claim otherwise mean little.
