ONS figures on net migration into the UK show that the numbers in the year to June 2025 fell to 204,000 compared with the record of 944,000 to March 2023. You'd imagine this would be a huge cause for celebration among the millions of people who have been so concerned about the numbers.
You would imagine that if people are so concerned about immigration they'd be interested enough to check out the facts.
Bearing that in mind, can any of you explain why it is that when asked by pollsters 67% believe that the numbers have increased while the percentage of Reform voters who believe it has risen is 80%.

An absolute textbook case of saying one thing to be elected, but then doing something else entirely. Shame really. He's a likeable guy, and by many accounts was a capable Mayor of London, but utterly found out as PM.
Mind you, he's not alone amongst senior politicians as being largely unaware of or unable to read public feeling. There's some real nastiness bubbling up, perhaps to the point of serious civil unrest in the not too distant future, yet a lot of them seem determined to just carry on as normal.
The idiocy coming from Wes Streeting about rejoining the EU is a prime example. Once it's laid out precisely what that would involve, then there's not a chance in hell it would win any public vote. I think we have to accept that outlets at both ends of the spectrum are vey selective in what they do or - most significantly - do not report. I don’t watch GBnews. I don’t watch any telly really, but from clips I’ve seen online they clearly have a bias and an agenda as do many news channels, but to their credit they also often have people of the opposing view regularly on there on their ‘panels’ and they let them put their point of view across without talking over them or belittling them. It’s quite refreshing from what I’ve seen. I enjoyed the “dinosaur hour” they did with John Cleese too, I thought that was a very good segment. |  |
