Don't be Addicks - Charlton Athletic vs QPR Match Thread 03:18 - Feb 4 with 42437 viewsSpaceman_P

Riding high from the previous weekends pant pulling of Coventry.

I feel there is positivity in the camp, weirdly I think Field going may phase the team.

However if its the same team line up and if Vale and Madsen are on fire.

We'll be the Orgasm Addicks not them

Charlton Diuretic 0 QPR 3

Kone, Dunne and Vale

Another famous 0-0. We shall never speak of this again.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

Turgid spoodge for much of the game but a strong finish. Couldn't give you a MoM because Walsh, Cook and Dunne were a monstrous unit.

'What do we want? We don't know! When do we want it? Now!'

Only took ninety mins to wake up 🙂

Hard to explain last 5 minutes and extra time we turned it on pity we did not start attacking earlier.
Still with Walsh saving us its a point gained

Didn't matter on Saturday when we beat the league leaders.

We have been poor again tonight away from home and Julien not great with his subs.

Not sure about the subs, both looked lively when they came on

I think that's a decent point. How many London derbies like that have we caved in recent years? Didn't play well, but take a point.

No quite as bad as previous 0-0s. So much better once Kolli came on. Glad to see we finished the better team. Cook and Dunne excellent again.

Larkeche hasn't played since I can't remember when. Obikwu has only just arrived, so it's a bit strange to say/imply we're missing him. And how often has Varane changed an away game for us with a decisive assist or goal? Or any game?

As I said earlier on the thread, we can agree Chair and Burrell are obvious big misses. As for most of the rest, not so much.

Yeh, fair enough, you know I'm not Varane's biggest fan either.
But it robs you of bench options. Would you have wanted Esquerdinha coming on there? Or Alemayehu?
Chair is a huge miss to the team.

Given the level of our performance tonight happy to steal a point from The Valley.

A shame as Charlton were beatable.

Has Nathan Jones got shit between his teeth he cannot get loose?

Watch him, always picking at his gnashes, even picked his snoz and ate it, the dirty child!

It's the ugly side of the game.

Yeah thought Bennie and Kolli both did well and Bennie in particular really opened up that right where Saito had been struggling. Definitely looks like he has more about him now.

The longer the game went on, the more likely I thought we were going to edge it. But, from my perspective, a decent away point, delighted / relieved not to come out second best in a London Derby.

Play like we did in last 10 for 30 minutes and we win the game.

For everyone having a pop at JS - look at that bench. He’s doing well with what he has available. Unlike our cast of a thousand elite performance staff.

To put a positive spin on that, another clean sheet along with some good performances and it was nearly a steal of an away win.

I do think it is always worth remembering we're missing Chair (who everybody underrates his importance), Burrell, Varane, JCS (lol), Dembele, Poku, Obikwu, Larkeche. It's a lot of pay roll sitting in the stand.

100% and as soon as Kolli came on and played that role, with Bennie Hugging the right we were much better. But look you have to credit the opposition they were very physical and direct, we saw a typical Dykes performance dominant in the air could not score in a brothel. 2nd half we were much better especially as they tired. Given how little we had available on the bench. End of the day you will always take a point away from home

Well that was a truly awful game. We were terrible. Complete opposite of last weekend. Thought he picked the right team, but looked like he set us up to play far too negatively. Just fcuking set up away as we do at home and go out and try to win away games. Still, he's doing a good job overall.

Another uninspiring performance, and I do feel like Stephan has to figure out how to gain control in away games.

However - our last three away games have all been draws, and in previous seasons I believe would have all been losses in similar circumstances. Drawing away is not something to be sniffed at, especially if you win at home, which we seem to be doing well at (bar a last minute madness against Wrexham).

Take it, move on. Beat Blackburn, it's a good point. Lose, it's a bad one.

It does feel like we think a point away is always fine, and we're just going away to kill the games, then we'll play and attack at home.

I've watched that one on TV today, but it looked like the Oxford and Stoke games to me. Again, like Stoke, when we started to attack in injury time we could have easily scored a couple of goals.

Bristol City made the play offs last year winning eight of their final 11 home games, and one of their last 15 away games of which they drew seven. Feels like we're trying to do something similar.

I do think player availability and fitness is a big part of this. he's only made two subs again tonight, he clearly doesn't like or trust what he's got beyond these 11-13 players. So sit in conserve, rely on some old school centre backs away, and then attack at home. If we hadn't sht the bed against Wrexham we'd have seven home wins from eight played and one away win from 11.

So, our 3rd 0-0 on the road against 12th, 17th, and 23rd. Weirdly, that was the best of the three (from a low, low bar) even though we should have been two or three down by half time.

Tried to win it in the last 5 or 10 minutes, so a bit of credit for a credible finish, but the lack of quality most of the rest of the time was sadly evident again.

I don't rate JS on the road for, again, self-evident reasons, but I just feel these players are not good enough, and our handful of injuries, but mainly Chair and Burrell, blunts us still further.

If there were a soundtrack to our performances on the road, it'd be the long sigh of an lame dog who'll come out of his basket for a few biscuits at best.

Fair point - it was really clear we lacked the tools to change it off the bench tonight. I feel tired, and all I had to do was watch it on the Interweb.
