The club can't have superstars in every position. Here and there it needs capable backup and deals like this secure it. |  |

The club can't have superstars in every position. Here and there it needs capable backup and deals like this secure it. |
Part of the issue for me on the League Cup was tactical, Fisher is weak on crosses so we don't bother to put a defender on the back post for corners! |  |

I wouldn't say that it's simply because of that due to his performances on the pitch, but I reckon you're spot on in that it's a very, very major consideration in the thinking behind this decision. Been clear for a good long while that he's very highly regarded of within the club, even pre-dating Matos.
After this two years I wouldn't bet against another year if he's fit enough, or a spot on the coaching staff if he decides to pack it in. | |

For further evidence of this just listen to the way that Melker Widell talks about him. It's borderline fanboyish.
Fulton is a very capable player and even better professional/example. Like Kyle Naughton before him he is destined to be criticised by the intellectually challenged whilst simultaneously being held in the highest regard by those who actually know the score. | |

Fulton is a decent player and seems to have a good head on his shoulders so will be a big asset to the younger players, in a game where change is constant there is a lot of value in keeping hold of established players who know the club inside out - might not show as huge value on the pitch but is worth its weight in gold off it.
Fisher is a capable number 2 and experienced professional, the club obviously see value in keeping him on too which tells me he adds value off the pitch.
I do agree with some comments on here about the lack of academy players coming through which is harmful to our finances, however I don't see either of the players above blocking paths for any young players - the academy players either aren't trusted or deemed good enough yet. | |

Exactly. I have been harping on about the lack of talent and development through from the academy for several years, hopefully some will progress but we do seem to be buying players of a higher calibre. Either way Fulton and Fisher can not be blamed for the youngsters not progressing. | | | |
