If not visible on the product label there are calculators like the one below to show what you need for 5000 gallons (though my experience is limited to a smallish cold-water aquarium so no expert). https://aquariumcalculator.net I'd guess your heater consumes over 500 watts, plus whatever all the ancillary pumps etc take. with the water. at 18 degrees Two of the cheap 400w plug-in solar panels should be enough to cover it. North of £800 but perhaps worth it over a few years. |
Its got an ASHP 10kw on the system, but the condenser has gone and I can't get a replacement for less than £1500 - £1800 knowing my luck somin else will go wrong if /i replace that, thinking of an alternative to the duratech I've got, Water temp stayed just above 10 degrees over the colder period we had, its over 14 now.

Could you imagine another 5-10 years of net zero policy, along with another 5-10 years of left-wing coalition in Welsh devolved government? Could you imagine a combination of both at the same time? The U.K/Wales will become a wasteland! Two governments without any grasp of economics or reality. Basically a bunch of idiots who would be better off served selling 'Socialist Worker' publication to other parallel-universe dim-wits.

Crazy to think that we are all watching a country deliberately destroy itself in most remarkable ways on so many fronts e.g. destroying economic prosperity, causing a mass exodus of irreplaceable tax-payers along with highly qualified professionals, destroying national security by abandoning border control etc. It looks more like intentional sabotage, than ever it does incompetence. Because? Nobody can be that insane, surely?

It can be both. It's being intentionally sabotaged by stupid people. We've been told for years that we need immigration to support an ageing population, yet the numbers of non-UK citizens in receipt of benefits and social housing is well above 50% in some areas. Who pays for that? The same middle/high earners the Government keeps squeezing. We're heading for absolute disaster in about 15-20 years without a major change of course.

The problem is that there isn't a sensible alternative.

And onto your (proven beyond all reasonable doubt) opinion that devolution has been (your words) "CIVIC SUICIDE" is forever etched into my memory! And to think that despite that, some now want Wales to go all the way and to have full independence. Some think that Wales can either cherry-pick to continue (what contradictive hypocrisy) reliance on England services, or go it completely alone when Wales relies on a list of specialties as long as your arm. And having Cardiff politicians that have previously ignored Welsh NHS requests/concerns and cannot run a p1ss up in a brewery. The 'left' is infested with delusional crackpots!

There are better alternatives. That doesn’t mean they’re perfect of course, far from it.

Not from what I've seen. The Tories are the root cause and Reform are just promising uncosted and undeliverable nonsense.

Been a lot of it on social media these days. Wales has controlled a lot of its own interests for nearly 30 years now, dropping behind even the low standards achieved by the rest of the UK, yet according to the Annibynniaith types it's all still Westminster's fault. There's no reasoning with these people.
