Fair comment.
I think a lot of the racism among Restore isn't THAT deeply entrenched....it's largely borne out of a sense of open borders out of control. We have an island siege mentality at heart and it'd served us well against Spain, France and Germany down the years...
To many it seems we are torching that on the bonfire of vanities in the name of societal "progress"....
The public has for the main part had 0% say in it ...bar Brexit which was a pushback that has seemingly backfired
It goes against our national sense of fair play, Magna Carta, demographic consultation and basic democracy...

You've got people like Steve Laws supporting Restore. He'd happily re-enact something like the Nuremberg laws where you've got lawyers working out just how "British" someone is depending upon the ethnicity of their grandparents. It's just dumb.
I don't care what colour or background someone has as long as they're happy to live peacefully, obey the laws, not seek to infringe on other people's choices/freedoms and contribute to society. For most cultures arriving in the UK that's not a problem, and that should be acknowledged.
For one in particular however, it has been an issue.
Brexit is a whole different debate. The Working Classes rejected the narrative that they were basically ordered to accept by their "betters" and we've not heard the end of it since.
People have, with a straight face, insisted that we're Billions worse off having left, despite all reputable economic indicators suggesting that the UK's economy has performed on a par with some EU countries and better than others. |  |

It's a point that I've made many times in the past. Simply the qualifications and pay required/offered for MP's are not enough to attract the calibre of individual who might make a decent go of the job.
Take the new Health Secretary for example. A PPE graduate who has been a councillor, adviser to Sadiq Khan and an MP since 2019. What on Earth qualifies him to run the seventh largest employer on the Planet with an annual budget of nigh on £200Bn?
There should be minimum standards for MP's. An age limit at both ends. A requirement to have a 10-15 year work history outside NGO/Goverment (with a few limited exceptions such as NHS or Military). Proven experience in delivering success in fields where it matters. Double, maybe even triple the pay. Reduce the numbers to offset the costs.
Set up an independent, politically neutral screening service where all parties have to submit their prospective candidates for approval. No more politically reliable thirtysomethings who have never done an actual days work and wouldn't last five minutes in the private sector. [Post edited 15 May 21:46]

This has been floating about on Twitter for the last couple of days and captures things rather well.
Steve Baker is a perfect example of the sort of person we need in Parliament. Ten years in the RAF, then Ten years in the private sector working in IT. Good mix of experience in the real world. His successor as MP has mostly worked as an MP elsewhere, a SPAD and a lobbyist.

Jumping on? The other morning was the first time he's faced the media since the 'gift' was uncovered and he had an absolute nightmare. Not least because of the fact that he gets stroppy at the first hint of any kind of scrutiny. Nick Robinson did a good job of questioning Farage's stance on crypto after his £5 mil bung. He's pretty much got away with it compared to the grief Starmer got for some glasses and suits.
