Iran has warned of this many times and it's never happened. We've been told stories of hypersonic missiles, of "closing" the Straits of Hormuz and all sorts of shenanigans, but none of it has happened.
Whilst the US probably can't "win" the war without putting boots on the ground or assisting the kind of uprising that could do it (shame they didn't bother earlier in the year), they're not losing it either.
It's just going to run and run, with Iran making the occasional attack and the US replying in significantly heavier force. Not completely unlike Ukraine, but the Russians don't have the capability that the US does. |  |

They had their chance to overthrow the regime without putting their own troops in the way when tens of thousands of Iranians were out protesting nightly. If they'd supported them logistically with weaponry and targeted specific Goverment locations they might have turned the tide.
Instead they sat on their hands and watched the Regime gun plenty of them down and subsequently execute many of the leaders. It'll take years to replace them. A major mistake on the part of the US. | |

The other thing that a lot of people fail to factor in is the sheer cost of maintaining a naval presence of that size for an indefinite period. Missiles and ordnance is very expensive and has to be replaced when used but the cost of feeding watering maintaining that number of personnel must be mindblowing too. |  | | |

The US Fleets are generally somewhere anyway so I'm not sure how much it affects general running costs, but it will certainly eat into maintenance time and eventual expense when the ships do return to port. | |

I don't think it's a case of the people uprising but the police and regular army might. They are supposedly living on one egg and some bread per day. They do have guns and know how to use them. The general public do not.
You might be aware of the Palestinian anti-Hamas groups in Gaza, armed and funded by Israel. We may see similar in Iran. The end may be in sight in Gaza for Hamas.
You may remember the USA offering huge sums for information on the IRGC leaders, in response to Iran's reward for anyone killing Barron Trump. That was aimed at any IRGC members wishing to overthrow the leaders. It wasn't aimed at bounty hunters!
Hezbollah lost it's HQ in Lebanon today. The tunnels at Ali Al-Taher will be cleared out in the next few days.

Maybe they were warned off by Putin? Russia wouldn't want Iran to turn into some sort of western democracy.
And they tried that with Iraq and that hasn't worked, just created terrorist groups. | | | |
