Well taxes will increase if we do, because we'll have to pay millions to re-join, I voted leave at time of the vote, but I'd changed my mind by the time we did leave 6/7yrs later, there'd have to be a very good reason to re-join now though, what are we likely to gain from re-joining what would be the financial implications of re-joining?

The way Europe and Britain is at this moment in time, I'm not sure that its good time to re join.

I voted remain and that is still my best view of where we should be but only if we had the concessions we previously had.

France and Germany will probably leave before we ever rejoin.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

John is still dreaming of that Utopia across the Channel, whose economic problems are multiplying at just as great a rate as our own.. He should get along to the Plaid/SNP/Sinn Fein meeting in Cardiff, where no doubt he will hear what he wants to hear.

Brexit was about immigration not sovereignty. We can all see with our own eyes Asian males have replaced young mixed Europeans who were fun.. We need young people to do minimum wage work

Commonwealth or Europe. Farage said Commonwealth. The myth was UK Brits would fill the minimum wage slack. They did not the state has no stomach to force them into work. Easier to give Visa to Asians who are as keen as mustard.

You can see with your own eyes and do not need reports or graphs.

Do you have family members particularly young or neighbours taking benifit and not filling the minimum wage jobs that you are speaking about, that actually need forcing into work. I am just wondering what personal experience you draw upon to make these assumptions.

Brexit was about not wanting to be governed by unelected officials , paying into a bamkrupt system to receive handouts which were far less than was paid in , The main gripe of the remainers about Brexit is that they no longer can no longer stroll through customs and the main problem with Brexit was it wasn't delivered as it should have been which was not the fault of the voters but those yet again in power ignoring the democratic will of the majority.

I largely agree with this. There are a few other things but this is close enough. The remainers liked to call leave voters racist, some undoubtedly were but the vast majority are not.

The Eu has it's own problems today, they have slow growth and high costs. They have relaxed rules which has allowed cheap imports which puts pressure on jobs. Critics argue that powerful decision making bodies like the European Commission lack direct democratic accountability.
Recent surveys (apparently because I haven't seen them) show a large number of Europeans are pessimistic that the EU will survive, they worry about how it handles global crises, like the current price of oil, food, electricity I guess.
People who still want to rejoin maybe aren't paying attention to all that's happening inside the EU.
Saying that I believe we have to rejoin for security reasons. I'm all for NATO dropping the USA and Europe going alone (ok Canada can stay) and beefing up our security. The USA have shit on their own chips as far as I'm concerned and Europe needs to be strong enough to deal with them as well as Russia and China.

Relations with the US could well improve as and when Trump goes and if Labour go here.

Agree that closer defence cooperation with Europe ASAP is highly desirable, but the timescales involved in that and in rejoining the EU are completely different. Rejoining would take years, but cooperation on defence has to happen sooner - in the next year I'd say. Even that is very difficult `with the French wanting to freeze us out of the European Defence Fund. so that their companies can get most of the contracts.

The UK rejoining might not take years but who knows.

What I should have added but was negligent, is that for that to happen I'd still want the Eu to reform and massively too. I don't want ever closer political union with the 27 members,

A trading bloc, close cooperation on defence and maybe some joined up thinking and cooperation on immigration but I don't want politicians I don't get a vote on (specially those chosen in backroom deals with all the skullduggery I believe goes on, Ursula von der Leyen was chosen like that and she hadn't even been mentioned previously) to decide what VAT we should charge in the UK, I don't want them telling us what we can do, can't do or making laws that over rule UK laws.

My experience s are anecdotal. People in the leisure business tell me UK /Welsh are very poor workers are routinely avoided. All garages I go to are Asian bar none. I live near to a MHO with ex Indian students

They work in fuel stations Amazon and restaurants. People tell me drug abuse is very high and I smell with my of nose at events. I read water authorities report high lev la of cocaine constituents in river waters and lakes.

I read 1m extra Brits are on universal credit benefits from 5 years ago. This is not mirrored in Europe so not due to Covid complications.

Immigrants come here for the readily available poorly paid work. The UK Government welcomed them and issues visas. We do not have enough youngsters available to do these jobs after the Europeans left.

The welfare bill is growing and there is no good explanation for this growth. People will survive with out support. Winter fuel allowance. At sea level there he as not been a heavy frost for years

There is a good explanation. First of all people in work can still get universal credit because the big compnaies don't pay a living wage, aided and abetted by government.

Second, there are plenty of homegrown skivers who sit around all day drinking, smoking, on their X boxes rather than go to work.

We have a skills shortage because companies stopped doing apprenticeships, something that needs reversing and building on because our skills shortage is shocking when we have so many "NEETS".

Where did this 61% figure come from. Nobody has asked me. Has anybody else on here been asked or does anybody know anyone who has been asked?

The latest yougov poll says 55% so I don't know where 61 comes from but if it's like other polls, they'll ask 2-3000 people and multiply the results out, after the "weighting" process of course.

Yep and of course a sample size of 2000 in an electorate of 40 million or so can never be anywhere near accurate.
