It's brutal...but after 30 years of elections 18:55 - Dec 14 with 2722 viewsThrasher6

It's all about self interest...as opposed to the greater good. People are selfish...."what's in it for me" is always quoted...and it's spot on. I have had friends over the years....and I look at them...invariably with children..doing the "anything at all costs" road. It's society as we know it now. That is just the workplace...

And it's comical.....because they wont tell anyone...until they draw the curtain back in the polling booth....

My grandfather and grandmother were fantastic people. Vince became a foreman in the mines at Ammanford and ran the Pick and Shovel...Ammanford Social Club...for many years. It was a sociallist club.....many miners fought with the International Brigade against Fascism in Spain. Their pictures were on the wall in the club.
My grandmother set up the Cooperative movement in the town...a means for people who couldnt afford it to get help with the basics. These two also spent their holidays educating themselves in summer schools. They were both working class. Boris couldn't even come close to them as people...they were people who were collectivist..."I do things...not for myself...but for the greater good"

And I am proud of them. Maybe we think a bit more about these people....they are the real inspiration. Not the vacuous nonsense we are confronted with.

Thatcher broke the mould what with selling the countries industries and housing stock off on the cheap as well as offering tax cuts at the expense welfare benefits and services and its continued ever since, Tony Blair never reversed it.

They voted for what they thought was best for themselves in Thatchers day and not what was best for society as a whole and it was the same on Thursday.

“PITY THE NATION”

Pity the nation whose people are sheep
And whose shepherds mislead them
Pity the nation whose leaders are liars
Whose sages are silenced
And whose bigots haunt the airwaves
Pity the nation that raises not its voice
Except to praise conquerors
And acclaim the bully as hero
And aims to rule the world
By force and by torture
Pity the nation that knows
No other language but its own
And no other culture but its own
Pity the nation whose breath is money
And sleeps the sleep of the too well fed
Pity the nation oh pity the people
who allow their rights to erode
and their freedoms to be washed away
My country, tears of thee
Sweet land of liberty!

"Lawrence Ferlinghetti"

Everyday above ground ... Is a good day! 😎

You know what is comical: Most of us work with a group of people. They will think of themselves before any group collective. No crime in that...I understand it...but it's where we are going wrong as a society....those who go the c#nt route...do charity events....not because they care...but do so for social standing...THESE PEOPLE DO NOT CARE ABOUT ANYBODY BUT THEMSELVES....

Brexit would never have happened without tabloid newspapers.

Election would never have happened in the first place without a spineless prime minister like cameron who was just an Eton elite and pr/marketing man . If John Smith hadn:t died.

They sound fantastic people.
Their welsh values shine through.

That said, this tweet makes it very clear that Wales did not vote in the same manner as England.

Dont let people say that we did.

Feck Boris.

Labour, what a waste of time in Wales,

https://www.newstatesman.com/politics/staggers/2019/12/labours-record-wales-does

You like Adam Price don't you kilk? Well he lays bare Labours failings and remember, when we talk about Westminster undefunding Wales it was Drakeford (as Price points out) who negotiated the new, fairer deal.
Reading this column it was the best argument I'd seen for voting Plaid but it still wasn't enough.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

No really, you are clueless, it's not arrogance. lets start with the Tory chunt thing.....tell me how you came to that conclusion?
Then tell me hwo you knwo I don't care about anyone else? Maybe I should be like some others and broadcast what I've done for charity, but I never did any of it for reward or to prove I'm a good person so no.
Maybe I should list all the things I've done to help neighbours and friends? Again no because I don't do it for recognition.

Something else I don't do is hurl mindless abuse at people I don't know but if you want to say it to my face just say the word. I'm not big or hard, nor am I looking for a fight but prove you are not just a p/ssed up keyboard warrior or stop your moaning.

Ah so you are just a pissed up keyboard warrior who hasn't a clue, I knew you wouldn't have the bottle to say it to my face. Slagging off Labour doesn't make me a Tory, that is just a very stupid assumption.
On another thread warwick called me a sanctimonious tvvat for saying I would spoil my ballot because none of them are worth voting for. Labour are a waste of time and thousands of Labour voters across the UK agreed.

Goodnight kiddo.

You’ve got to be n your 40s and 50s to remember the 1970s so I can excuse some young people being seduced by cuddly Corby and is promise of a bright new world order. Yeah you can excuse the kids. They weren’t around in the 70s. They don’t know any better. Communism is some vague topic in the history books. When I become PM, I’ll dictate that all school trips must be to former Soviet satellite states - Budapest, Prague, Warsaw, Sofia etc where pupils will talk to the local populace about the joys of living in a socialist utopia. Then they can talk to older people here about the 3 day week, unburied dead, mountains of rubbish In the streets, Bolshevik transport unions that regularly stopped people getting to work - oh hang on, they only need to talk to South West Trains passengers at this present time. No regular trains for 4 weeks due to the good ole RMT. Merry Christmas.

The young now don’t realise how bad unemployment was, at least a lot of people work now in some form? All this nhs is for sale bollox, it just won’t happen, no government will sanction it, it would see them off. It was a poor show from labour to insinuate it, I quite like corbyn but the party behind him are a disgrace. A bit like the lefties I know, either still living at home with mum and dad, in there 40’s, no kids, never paid a mortgage, artist types, or done way too many drugs in the 90’s and say they can’t handle life and are onthe sick permanently.....clueless

There's a fair point in there.

When I was in school there was, quite rightly, a lot of study about Nazi Germany. There was not a peep about Communism, an equally murderous philosophy.

It might have changed, but perhaps the emphasis should be on totalitarianism itself rather than one aspect of it. Perhaps then more kids would come out of school dubious about extremism in all its forms.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

You obviously have reading comprehension problems.

He was summarising the Article, this is a quote from the article.
"Labour are not part of the solution in Wales, they are a source of the problem. "

So as a staunch labour supporter how do interpret that comment from the opposition and if you disagree explain what labour has done for Wales ouside the Cardiff bubble.

I also came from a labour family and voted labour until Balir got in and have not voted for them since. I am in no way a Conservative.

The major problem with MPs today is that they are paid too much and make to much in graft due to their positions.
It is no longer a "cause" it is now just a very easy very well paid job with brilliant pensions.
