How good is Brandon Cooper then not seen him play how does he compare to Cabango and Rodon. Is he good enough to be our 4th centre back currently or not.

On his rare outings for the senior Swans and against senior teams for Under 23s he didn't look that solid but would have been plying alongside an unsettled or very young partners. IMO Cabango has always been far more capable. But it does sound like Cooper is making the most of his time on his League 2 loan and that should prepare him for higher levels. Haven't seen him this season, though.

There was little if anything between him and Ben in u18s and u23s, or Wales u21s. Brandon made his u23s debut first iirc, but got a bad injury in his second appearance that kept him out for a while and he didn't play much football before his senior debut against Palace under Potter. Then a looong wait for game no. 2. Cabango had the edge in physique, before he put on the extra mass Ben looked like he had more pace and would be like Joe in covering ground. Cooper lacks a bit in both height (6'1 but doesn't look it when he plays, think he slouches) and speed. But from a technical standpoint he's as good as any of them at defending. Added a bit to his ball-playing as well. None of this class of centre halves (Cabango, Cooper, Lewis) were the footballers Rodon and Harries were in the u23s, but playing out from the back is taught throughout the age groups. It's not something Graham Potter or Steve Cooper have had to develop from scratch. He's definitely good enough to be 4th choice here, but needs regular football so I'm delighted he's at Newport getting his break.

I thought Cooper looked very accomplished on the ball and seemed to be of the "ball playing" centre half mould. More so than Cabango, but you've seen a lot more than me. Edit - Noticed Harries has played every minute of Bristol Rovers league 1 games so far, good to see. Was shafted by Potter here. [Post edited 1 Oct 2020 12:20]

Not sure, Rovers are struggling and Cian's athletic shortcomings saw him exposed in the Netherlands (not a cakewalk that league, mind). I really wanted to see him get more chances as he was a very good player in the u23s but in retrospect maybe the right call to move on and look beyond him. Cooper is a slightly better footballer and less one-footed than Cabango, but there's not a great deal in it. Playing the outside centre half position at Newport is giving him loads of chances to practice his distribution between lines. They're not playing long ball any more, thankfully.

Harries was never in the same same class as Rodon and Ben. Never remotely looked the part. No idea why he was signed when we already had great options from our own academy.
