I think UEFA are being stupid really. Public health should come before any other concerns and all thi is to them is money, they want to be able to please broadcasters and corporate guests. It's irresponsible.

Some posters have gone off tack, the original post refers to failing to allow quarantine exemptions for visiting supporters, VIPs and UEFA guests and it’s not to do with numbers at Wimbledon etc. My view is that Boris has to stick to his guns, there cannot be double standards for us the citizens of the UK and UEFA officials etc, if there were it would completely undermine all the restrictions and the lockdown etc and make it much more difficult to enforce going forward. Unlike Wimbledon and Ascot ( which I personally believe should not have had large crowds) the issue here is 10s of thousands travelling into the UK without adequate checks.
We have had different rules within the UK, they had different rules with in England, they even had different rules for parts of larger cities in England.
Of course there can be different standards and there should be. The reason the UK was so badly hit was in large part down to tory dithering and delaying in closing borders.
Johnson will do whatever is popular and expedient.
TBH I can’t understand why so many are getting so arsy about England losing a football venue. | |
