“Hopefully we will help develop Man City’s player”.. 01:05 - Jan 31 with 1067 viewsDr_Parnassus

Word for word quote from Martin. Anyone else confused by this?

Supposed to be a year of building or transition as some are saying… and we are developing other teams players while sending ours away from the club to play a different style at a different level?

Makes no sense to me at all.

No issues with the player, may turn out to be a gem of a 6 month loan. But in terms of what we are being told, these short term youth loans don’t really seem to be fulfilling the brief.

Very easy to get wound up by RM’s use of the words & suspect a more savvy experienced manager would have phrased it differently however you can, if you do chose of course, to read between the lines & see it as :-

1. RM thinks Cooper will not get too many minutes with us right now so him going out will give him the chance to play regularly & come back in the summer a more experienced player - same logic for Oli Cooper, Williams, Cullen, Whittaker etc.

2. Burns, as you say, may turn into a superstar but highly unlikely to be playing in the Prem as a starting CB at 18/19 but if he can do a job for us - starting or from the bench - it helps him & therefore Citeh plus continues our positive relationship with them.

Nothing in this for me, in simple terms Cooper was likely to be a bench sitter for us but with Williams recalled we need some CB cover.

Totally agree Doc and I made a similar observation on another thread.
given this is allegedly a season of transition surely we should have those young players her leading Martins style so they are properly prepared for the push on.
As you say they are ar sides who do not play the Martin way so to me that’s sAying we will look to offload
I t all seems odd to me….it makes me wonder even more what Winter and Allen are up to

It's one or the other.

We are either in a transition season where this season is some sort of dress rehearsal for next season where the players use the games as training sessions essentially (its a barmy notion).

or

We are trying our best to win this season even if it means multiple short term options knowing we will have to start a fresh in those positions next year again. In which the initial notion is nonsense.

It's probably the second option to be fair to Martin, I have never believed in the notion for a second and our actions do nothing to support it, only show the opposite.

I'm all for finishing as you as you can, football is often a short term game in terms of managers and players. But that means we need to start seeing some results now.

You can't rely on suggestions this is a transition season to excuse away poor results, while doing nothing different to any other season.

These are the utterances of a maniac .
It’s as bad as stating he is super proud of the lads even though they appall as they do.
We really are a crèche

We need to rid ourselves of him somehow .

Vital we do so

I still don't want him gone. Not yet anyway.

Maybe I'm wishing rather than hoping at this stage but the man just needs a wake up call and a reality check. There could well be a good and effective manager in there if he drops the nonsense he's wedded to.

Whether he will is another matter all together. We have had enough proof now that an adapted system is the better way forward. I don't see what else he needs to realise it.

If we are still playing this way as the season goes on without any success and the obvious issues not being addressed, then I may just be with you.

But for now, I am still hoping.

I went to bed thinking about Russ last night .
I’m wife even twigged as much.
I’ve seen much in my time but I’m really worried mainly as our fan base hadn’t or won’t accept the obvious. We have been let down before and we are desperate to get back on the road.
Consider the logic of taking a 18 kid on loan in this league where it is physical. Yet ,we neglect the real issue,ie the way we play. We cannot play as Russ wants ,although I’m not sure he knows himself.

We have let go two strikers with no replacement at all.

We have brought in a goalkeeper when ours are adequate although not very good granted .

I cannot see Downes with us next season. He is too good for other clubs to miss . He must be right peed off as things stand .

Martins disingenuous fan praise fools few and they will not be patient with his vacuous plan .

He is coming to Swansea to develop and improve at the same time helping Swansea get result and get into the play offs as a long shot. Playoff matches will pay his wages.

The OP represents the miserly give nothing take nothing approach which might work for fans but does not work for clubs. Guehi and co got Swansea to two play offs and useful pay days.

It has to be said it is disappointing Chelsea have not traded with Swansea again after Guehi and Gallagher development. Perhaps it was a Steve Cooper thing.

Which might show loans are a waste of time.
We would be better off sourcing talent for US.

You are forgetting Swansea have a reported 9 player out on loan themselves. Hopefully some of them at least three can walk into the team next season. The club likes them but will martin play them.

He gave Benda a run but then replaced him with an average Joe player like Hamer who he reportedly wants to give an extension to.

But those players are at clubs who play nothing like Martin so when they return will have to reindoctrinated

"Could not our super coach improve them"
Is a very good question.
He doesn't seem to able to do so.
He seems to want to bring them in "ready made" and farm out our youngsters for someone else to improve.

AFC
We are told they are not managers but coaches

What do coaches do.?

They work to improve players .

Shamefully, our excuse for one has dumped not one but two strikers with no sign of a replacement .

This is not about wages saved first, just rank bad planning

We really should not accept this and I pray Martin gets to know pretty soon we are not mugs .

Borderland dwelling agitator who seeks to downgrade anything local?

Swansea is tight with the cash. The fans ("we" ) own 21% of the club and have £880,000 in the bank devaluing at 5% a year by inflation. "We" do not have to accept anything "We" are on the board owning one fifth of the club.

Why do you not join me and demand they contact the clubs other owners with their £440k loan into the convertible loan note. Fans are owners and need to think like owners.

If they continue to do jack all with their assets they are worthless to Swansea city. Their 'pedantic' supporters are not 'pedantic' enough to find out what investment opportunities the Rules and constitution allow.

What on earth does that have to do with the post that you responded to!?

You've had that itch again (or orders) to spread propaganda randomly across threads about the trust.

You know the only people who can sanction loans / investment into the club are the majority owners. Yet you never extend any criticism towards them. Why not?

So you are not minded for the Supporters Trust to contribute? Can I ask why?

They have £880k in a current account. Fisher only cost £400k.
