| Good atmosphere today. on 09:45 - Mar 20 with 1199 views | onehunglow | And that makes everything ok then. Off key out of tune bawling of a very melodic anthem belies the fact most Welsh people can hold a tune. Then followed by Ingerlund full of 1heet when most of our players are English. How dumb is that. It is not an international It is @rse squirmingly embarrassing | |

Most of the fans are Welsh, the City is Welsh, we are a Welsh club. Opposition fans come with England flags, sing GSTQ, sing Ingerland, . Good on them. So as proud Welshmen and women, we sing for our country, as they do. We is Welsh see.

Rubbish. Most under 40 know the words very well. Schools are useful see. Especially since devolution. Its only those brought up as good little Brits in south Wales in the 1970s who have no clue. Schools were shite then for anything welsh culture related. I mean OHL still thinks Cymru is a Principality ffs. Are we back in 1542 ?

You have very little knowledge of the heritage in places like South Wales. The before the industrial revolution there was basically hardly anyone living in South Wales. Coal mines etc, brought people from all over the U.K. Have you ever wondered why hardly anyone from the valleys speak Welsh now or in the past. Also what I said about people yesterday not knowing the words was true.

Showing your ignorance again kilky, primary schools around Wales were singing Welsh hymns in morning assembly in the 70's. Calon Lan a particular favourite but Mae Hen Wlad was always sung too. I couldn't do Welsh though, I was in the higher stream and I had to do Latin, another pointless year of lessons that was. Somewhat ironically, in 2 primary schools and now year 8 of comp, my son has never learned a Welsh hymn, the only time he ever sang one in school they had to read it from a song sheet. Nyd wy'n gofyn bowydd moethus.....

Eira byd. Yep,me too. Had Welsh rammed down my throat and dropped it as soon as I could, which is what all of us who weren't natural welsh speakers did. It gave you an easy O level though if you ere welsh speaking. Many monoglots, like my mother, sang in Welsh in Chapels without knowing the meaning of the words. My mum detested Welsh possibly because she detested my dad' Cardy/Carms family unit,as tight a bunch as you could wish to meet. Latin gave me the base to speak 3 language reasonably well. Yes. I do. It’s a mute point. Wales is not shown on the UK flag for a reason. 1542…yep,the Nats absolutely are stuck there Anyway ,Welsh or English league Killy . Connah s Quay or Old Trafford. It’s a fair question I pose. You could go up to Flintshire and tell them they re all basically scousers and convert them

I am amazed that you attended a school with a so-called higher stream. And even more amazed that you were, apparently, in it ? Calon Lan - we agree on that one at least. One of our own Swansea hymns of course. May i suggest the internet to your son so he puts in himself, what his school has seemingly left out … ðŸ‘🾠, be worth the effort.

Wiki says ….Welsh has been spoken continuously in Wales throughout history, but by 1911 it had become a minority language, spoken by 43.5 percent of the population. So prior to 1911 the majority of the people in wales still spoke cymraeg. Yes lots of immigrants looking for work. From all over. However the words of Mae Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau were written by Evan James and the tune composed by his son, James James, both residents of Pontypridd, Glamorgan, in January 1856. Not bad for an area where you reckon nobody spoke welsh. They must have guessed it all … 🤦â€â™‚ï¸
