I'm pretty well certain that that is not included. Another £350 million or so well spent ? Wasted in my opinion.

Maybe the government should stop giving them any money then since they are so profitable they can clearly afford to pay for themselves.

The Government would be £100 million worse off. They received £200 million from the crown estates and paid out £100 million. Even if the crown estates paid £20 million on their profits that would still leave the Government £80 million pounds worse off.

Surely the net profit/loss associated with the Royal Family is the important figure ?

Morning my learned friend. Although I started this little spat, cost isn't my primary concern but the way in which our monarchy operates and sees class divisions perpetuate. I hate to see anyone at all bowing to another just because of a title, and curtseying is simply subservient to me. We need to address our class and see one end freeing themselves from the burden of inferiority and the other to realise that being born into privilege does not make one superior in any way. Regardless of how the Crown estates work, their lifestyle ooozes excess -still. It always has.

So the Royals pay a miniscule £100m a year for their station, sound rather cheap don't you think. That £100m has probably been made back tenfold by them with the amount of lobbying the do.

It really is a stretch to even suggest the Moanarchy actually contributes to our economy.

Can't argue with that. I like the Queen, I think she's earnt respect. it could be said that a person would be bowing to the 'Principle of the Crown ' as opposed to the person. In other words, centuries of British history. Are they better than us ? Course not. We bow we we going and leave court, but it is to 'Regina' that all courts are run under. I take your point

Pleasure to chew the cud with you of late. You'll not I am rather eclectic in my views . I share many opinions that are hard left with many hard right. I would pray for a centrist country where we are ALL seen a equal regardless of school and family history. My dad's family had money ,my mum's had nowt;I was imbued with various doctrines at an early age and eshewed them all. Ive always gone my own way John .

There's a great podcast with Rory Stewart and Alistair Campbell called 'The Rest is Politics' shows how two people can 'respectfully disagree' Stewart often talks about a centrist party, I'd certainly be inclined to join one, there's crazies on the far left and right. I don't share any far left or right views I don't think. If the Religion of Johnism were ever to take off, it would simply be 'Don't be an arse to people' or as Bill and Ted would say 'Be excellent to One Another' Can't go far wrong there
