Noticed that ( being of a certain age ) if I had a mind to buy a ticket for Rotherham I would get a discount at 60, yet for Swans home games and Blackpool I would have to pay the full adult price until I reach 65.
Surely there should be consistency for ticket prices for both young and old categories?

Swansea changed the goalposts couple of years ago. It always used to be 60. Greed.

Only qualified last September for the lower denomination.
Wrong that Reading should be over 65 for men only though in this day and age ?

Indeed

People in the 50-65 age group have given the US owners and the "so called sell outs" huge problems and aggro using the vehicle of the Swansea City Supporters Trust.

The Trust have been paid £500k to sign a new shareholders agreement. They have not contributed to Convertible loan note. South Wales political people of a certain vintage.

Many on this forum actually having seen the Trust fail to sue the other owners are now leaving in droves when faced with reality of ownership and the need for a constructive approach. The whole club are better off without them in my opinion. Concessions or no concessions.

Fans in UK have never had much of a footprint in UK football clubs. In 2002 the club owners were naive to include them. Some said it would end in tears. And it did.

The Trust have negotiated a 'ceremonial role' of holding 5% for a version of a 'life peerage'. They will sit in the VIP seats and boardroom forever and never be asked to buy a pint. A bit like the House of Lords.

They will happily now decline to invest any money in the club and generally have a pretty good VIP time as their holding declines to 5% while doing their vital work of defending the fans interests. With no investment strategy their £1m will halve in real terms unless the UK Government can sort out inflation. Incredibly the "I" word is never discussed.

The US guys like Silverstein now understands 'Limeys' love of the monarchy. Kinda Quaint aint it? He came over on his holiday and figured out the mentality of the locals. A people with no ambition and the love of tax free perks and privilege. They will only throw mild soft ball brickbats in the direction of the club in the future perhaps? Do they have a guarantee of no sale to buyers of a leveraged purchase in the deal? I doubt it.

Levien and Silverstein perhaps prefer the company of younger more progressive people who work in a more constructive way and do not use biblical references and the language of the mature fan. (eg. Judas, Greed, Sellout, Betrayal) Load the 60-65 year old and subsidise the younger fan who had no role in the last 6 years of grief and are generally less political with less biblical knowledge.

When the CLN is complete the Trust will own 15% of the club having contributed only £200k in total 1.45% of the overall total. Roughly 1/70 th of the total "fresh cash".

I hope you will accept this 'political comment piece' and not take it personally. I like to think that I understand how Silverstein thinks a little. I have more empathy with them than the fans to be honest. They put their money where their mouth is. The club is already spending this money.

So if I understand that right, if I had been born 15 years later, the owners would have welcomed me with open arms as according to you I would have been too young in my late 30's to complain about the sale to the Americans?
Is it not just possible ( and it is a rhetorical question) that those of my age and older may not be wholeheartedly condemning past and present owners and those who are 15 - 20 years younger may be condemning them ?
Assuming that is what you mean ?
Anyway my whole point was about parity for fans ( Male and female ) across the board.
Once they reach a certain milestone ( be it 60, 65, whatever ) then discounts should apply at every club throughout the country.
IMHO

Good tough questions. I suspect without any evidence that the owners might want to encourage younger fans based on their difficult experience in dealing with older fans.

The retirement age is 67 these days and most 60 year olds are still working and have more disposable income not less. The UK Government have hammered young people such that house owning is out of reach. The beneficiaries of lax lending rules and a house price bubble are homeowners who are in this age group. Most are sitting on huge tax free gains and do not need concessions.

Hypothically then, if there are many of a certain age who are in a financially comfortable position, maybe clubs should give an across the board discount to those under say 30 as they are the ones struggling to buy their own houses and therefore suffering financially ?
Of course clubs ( such as Swans ) have in reality just pushed the higher limit to 65 while charging 18 year olds who are working full wack

London no different to the rest of the UK at 66.
This will rise to 67 and right wing 'Centre for Social Justice' think tank is suggesting 75 even though life expectancy is decreasing. Centre for Social Justice is reported was being highly influential in movement circles.

Are you sure? I have found no evidence of earlier pension for Londoners. The rules are the same for everyone as far as i know with regard to pension age.

Not pension age. Bus pass age.

I should have made it clearer. You get your bus pass in Wales at 60, its pension age in England yet 60 in London. Disparity everywhere.

I would say a young family man or women at around 25 would be in most need for concessions not 60 year olds still in work. They have the near impossible task of saving for home. Inflation is a real bad problem for them as interest rates need to rise to combat it.

You dont get a bus pass in Wales at 60 now. It is at state pension age.

No bl**dy good in rural areas and places like Pembrokeshire though as there are no bl**dy buses !

No one is well off these days, and tickets should be affordable for all.

Due to TV money , German clubs have very low ticket prices. This Country also has very high TV money income !

Having gone over to Germany to watch a game and planning to go back i can say that their clubs are run much better than over here. (Barring Leipzig and Hoffenheim)
The clubs cater for the fans, tickets are dirt cheap, safe standing and have a pint whilst watching the game. Absolutely superb.
