what does a sporting director do ? thought we had a c e o along with a recruitment team already in place? wonder if that means people will be let go ?

In this instance it would appear that the Sporting Director is intended to streamline the process we currently have in which half a dozen people bumble around until a decision is made, usually too late. Winters can crack on managing the business/financial side of the club whilst someone else manages the footballing part.

Judging by the latest news I would say this guy could be taking up two roles, or more likely some of Winter’s brief. We have more on this tomorrow.

By definition I'd expect him to take on some of Winters' responsibilities. Football is becoming far too complicated for one man to manage everything, no matter how much Huw Jenkins desperately wanted that to be the case. A business management guy is not a football management guy, and vice versa. If it makes the decision making process simpler and quicker then so much the better.

There is no vetoing of deals at the club. Not from our end anyway.

That press conference was a farce, entirely orchestrated to absolve him of any responsibility. It was gross. Although I don’t recall him saying any transfer was vetoed, if he did… then he’s being very ‘liberal with the truth’. No transfer was vetoed. What were his words with regards to that?

Whilst his tactical nous is pitiful, his man management dubious and his coaching debatable ,his PR skill is impressive. He would make an excellent agent in the game or outside the game,a formidable salesman . In that regard ,he is quite brilliant. He is the most divisive manager in our history

I disagree, despite his long term mantra, his actions are very short term driven. He doesn’t seem to realise that he will be looking for a new job after he leaves Swansea. The ones who will be employing him are owners of football clubs, COO’s and DoF’s. If he continues to make such bizarre statements in the media about them in order to self preserve and shy away from personal responsibility, he’s not going to make an attractive hire. Whoever is advising him is extremely short sighted and misguided. Maybe he advises himself 🤷â€â™‚ï¸

I saw the word “shrewd” used elsewhere and can’t help but feel that is extremely accurate. What Luton have achieved in recent times is remarkable.

I would agree here, I think as a positive regardless of what's and how's that this appointment is a very positive one.

| Paul Watson-Luton on 20:56 - Apr 30 with 2052 views | QJumpingJack | Am I missing something. He has done an incredible job at Luton. So much so they are on the verge of potentially getting into the Premier League. Why doesn't he see the job through there at Kenilworth Road? Why does he want to come to us and surely he will do his due diligence on the club by speaking to the likes of Allen, Cooper, Potter etc? | | | |

Potter spent £7m in a season and ended up showcasing himself enough to get a Premier League move. Cooper achieved back to back play off finishes and ended up showcasing himself to get a job at former European Champions and now finds himself in the Premier League. Russell Martin has spent millions with the freedom to sign players he wanted such as Fisher, Darling, Sorinola and Laird who he worked with prior and stuck by him through one of the worst runs in modern history. I think the due diligence points to it being a no brainer. Yes Luton are currently doing very well but they are a minnow in real terms, their ground can barely hold 10,000 supporters and while there are plans to expand, these things take years. I don’t believe they have any sort of longevity potential at the top table, certainly not in the near future. We do, and have proved it.

Maybe our club is not as bad as some make out and is an attractive proposition.
