If that is their "estimate" then we can be certain the true costs are much hgher.

Meanwhile patients die wjile waiting for treatment, kids eucation suffers because schools are under funded...well we've had all this before but the gravy train rumbles on and those who support this keep sticking up for Welsh Labour.

Will we never learn.

I can see a change by Wales online and BBC Wales. Previously the Senedd seemed to be able to do no wrong. Now they seem to be doing their journalistic job and ask serious questions. There definitely is a groundswell moving throughout the principality.

For comparison, California, a US state with a population of just under 40 million people and a GDP of $3.6tn manages with 120 politicians across both houses of its State Legislature.

I wonder if many know that during the built of the Senedd building the temporary accommodation used during its build is still being paid today and will continue for many more years due to contracts agreed at the time

The Senedd are looking for major cuts in budget spending to try and balance the books. I can tell them where to save £100M plus at a single stroke with no job losses or inconvenience to the Welsh public. They really need to live in the real world.

I haven't seen much defending of the Senedd by the usual supporters on this thread or the NHS thread. Is reality hitting home.

It was made in 2015 and is still true today the people in Wales totally disillusioned with the Senedd ignore the views of the majority. No wonder so few people vote in Senedd elections

I’m generally pro Senedd, but as Boundy has said you can’t defend the indefensible. If there’s a need to reduce expenditure and save cash, the Senedd should be looking internally first and setting a good example.

How can we justify increasing the number of politicians when we’re cutting public services budgets. The place I worked saw huge cuts during the austerity programme and things have never recovered, but we were expected to do more with less and that’s exactly what I expect Drakers et al to do. Put an extra hour in each day, if they don’t like it toughski. Stand down and work elsewhere.

Actually Drakers should just stand down, today. He's clung onto control for too long.

In the real world we are told to make do with what we have when the budget has run out but our politicians are taking from the budget to increase their number, they areliterally robbing from us to pay more of them.
To think, the one thing the tories have done that I truly agree with (cutting MP's) has been moaned about on here by some because it reduced Welsh MP's, we have too many elected reps, we could do with fewer, not more.

I think it was Dr W who posted about california, that s a very good example and a good reason why we DON'T need more in the Senedd.

By comparison, Liz Truss 30 billion pound cock up would have paid for 300 new state of the art hospitals.

Only it is a labour and SNP myth it cost £30 billion.
As you have been told the tax cuts would have cost £20 billion over a full financial year. None of them happened, as they never happened there was not cost. The increased government spending never happened as well so no cost.

If you think "state of the art" hospitals only cost £100m to build then I'll have some of what you're smoking. Would cost at least double that just to fit out, never mind construct.

A top of the range MRI machine can easily cost seven figures on its own.

It’s very difficult to quantify the exact amount the budget cost, the point you make about the tax cuts not going ahead is valid, but Truss’s budget has cost the U.K. tax payer money. While there has been an increase in interest rates throughout most western economies, our rates went up higher because of the so called “Moron premium” attributed to Truss and Kwarteng’s budget which means the U.K. is paying billions in additional interest rates, the general people are paying more in interest on their mortgages etc.

Truss was a disaster.

Defending the indefensible, nobody is any doubt the about the carnage Truss caused.

But Drakeford and his party have been a disaster for Wales, do you agree with them increasing the number of members?

The WAG was criticised for years before it got replaced by the Senedd and the Senedd has proved to be even worse, headed by Dreadful the dictator is has been and still is an mitigated disaster, he's needs to go and go now!

Cutbacks whilst spending 120 million of public money on yet more bellends to sit on their arses do jobs that others there could do alongside what little they already do!

I've not voted for that long that I can't even remember when I last did, a great majority of todays politicians are only interested in what they can get out of being politicians and not what difference they can make, absolute vermin the lot of them.

The Truss "£30bn" stories are no more accurate than the "Track and Trace wasted £37bn!" stories, but it's been obvious for centuries that if you repeat a lie often enough plenty of people will believe it.

It seems that all this apparent singing about the tories is not having much impact on the opinion polls in Wales.
