| Suitcases at airports on 19:04 - Jul 12 with 1523 views | Joesus_Of_Narbereth | You’d be surprised how many suitcases/bags break and tear. Especially the way those Swiss port nutters chuck them around. I had one where the handle snapped off as I was wheeling it into the airport. On a related note I went away recently and couldn’t believe the size of peoples hand luggage. They were bigger than the actual suitcases. Some girl was struggling to lift hers into the overhead baggage thing and being the muscular and chivalrous gent I am offered to help her and nearly gave myself a hernia. I didn’t offer to lift it down at the end of the flight. | |

You’re not wrong. One of our suitcases came out on to the carrousel very badly damaged a few years go. We went over to the Emirates rep, complained and he gave us a new suitcase on the spot. I had the distinct impression it was a routine occurrence. We flew to Portugal from Bristol in January, at the departure gate the ground staff were measuring the hand luggage and hitting people with the excess charge if their suitcases exceeded the hand luggage threshold. A couple in front of us got 2 x £37 “fines” as their bags were too big - they weren’t happy! I’ve not seen bags checked during the morning rush, but I have seen them checked in the evening.

Airports are a huge rip off, from parking fees, paying to drop people off, the price of a pint, food, coffee etc.

I never eat or drink at airports if i can help it. I usually try to park away from the airports at a local farm for example, it save a few quid

Yes I've used highwayman in the past, it's hardly a farm. And there's not a lot of difference between them and meet and greet in fairness

Meet and Greet. The thought makes me queasy. Handing your car over to a complete stranger assuming he will park it neatly, safely and not go for a razz in it. My advice ,never do so. Taxis aren’t cheap.£160 return to Manchester airport for us and it’s 45 miles . Multi storey parking works out at £90 .

My experience has always been good. However, a mate did have 500 odd miles on his clock last year. To say he went ballistic would be a huge understatement. He was arrested 👀

You’ve been lucky. There are many horror stories out there Just the concept of leaving a loved one is enough for me . I’m not really that insouciant when it comes to these matters

Cardiff airport is excellent for meet and greet, never had a problem with it, and it's based on the airport itself

I’ve used Goblin Coombe in Bristol many times with no problems at at all. I’ve used booked them again for sept. Saving £25 for the week too. I’ve only used the Highwayman once and it was fine. They even have a sign telling customers to record their mileage for peace of mind. It’s a bit of a pain to get to though

I’m saving £25 by parking in Coombe Goblin farm when i fly from Bristol in sept. That’s 25 + 12 saved by using the Highwayman. As i have an older Diesel, i’m looking for a way to by pass the Bristol clean air zone charges. That will be another £18 saved. £55 saved is not bad, just from doing a little research
