The reason she was paid the huge amount was because she came in on a consultancy basis and was paid consultancy rates as opposed to being a salaried employee. It’s an overpayment in comparison to the substantive post, but not in comparison to consultancy rates across the U.K. What’s happened here is exactly the same thing that’s been happening in hospitals up and down the country when they bring in agency staff to do a job. Exactly the same thing happened in Westminster during them build up to Brexit, Boris brought in lots of consultants at high rates of pay, many earning more than this lady.

More context below, we in Wales need to focus on how Wales is being managed or mismanaged.
If I said to my boss my Dept. Is out of control but I know of other Depts. that are similarly out of control elsewhere, I would be out of a job.
We know Boris is an idiot, knowing Boris is an idiot doesn't help the dire situation in the Welsh NHS. We have incompetent people who we let off the hook when they blame someone else, maybe we get the dull idiots we deserve.
