Then they came up with the words "Climate change" because it's a natural phenomenon nobody can argue against it, utterly brilliant. Heavy rain = climate change. No rain = climate change Hot weather = climate change Cold weather = climate change Bad crops = climate change Good crops = climate change Add whatever suits your agenda = you guessed it.

It's actually Anthropogenic Climate change or Human Induced Climate Change to give it it's full title.

Surely the debate isn't whether or not climate change is happening but purely about how much effect humanity is actually having on it and how much is normal and natural.
I kkep saying it but I am far more worried about pollution that detroys environment, about loss of environment like deforestation or poisoning of the oceans that creates dead zones.
The temperature changes, to me, are mostly natural.

Yup back in the 1970s at our Comp several teachers ( thankfully most of the teachers weren't brainwashing political activists as well in those days) were frightening the life out of us kids telling us that an ice age was just round the corner.
When that didn't happen they transferred over to the Global warming conviction before settling on the Climate Change ( but getting very hot ) title.
I hesitate to suggest not to believe what your teachers tell you but just be selective about believing what a number of them come up with.

It's largely interlinked. Loss of habitat, deforestation and even micro plastic pollution contribute to climate change.
We know we are impacting the Earth's climate becasue we are emitting chemical that affect climate, that can happeing naturally but we're upsetting that balance. On top of that we're destroying the planets ability to regulate those emissions.
Our estimates for future climate scenarios are based on models. Climate models are all wrong, as are all models about everything. The problem is when we know how wrong they are (either better or worse scenario) it'll be far too late to do anyhting about it. It may be too late already.
It's not easy but we need to do something about it now. We're doing pretty well in the UK mind.

The UK doing well is pointless though, unless the rest of the world does well it'll make absolutely no difference.
We have China and the USA still having rising pollution, we have the wars in Ukraine and Palestine with the thrreat that the whole region could destabilise.
The UK is literally a fart in a thunderstorm, we an stop farting but nobody will notice. Apaprt from all of us who live here who are paying a fortune for the eco drive that is having no effect.

Focussing on CO2 alone ignores all the other damage we are doing to the planet much of it irreversible.
the Uk puts in 1% of 0.4% of 0.4% of co2 into the Atmosphere. It's such a tiny amount as to be insignificant
And that's my point, China has increased its pollution by more than we put out. Our efforts are literally pointless, it's virtue signalling by politicians who can easily afford the costs but who are condemning poorer people to much higher costs of living.
The politicians want to look good to other politicians, this isn't about doing the right thing as much as it's about vanity by those who, when faced with higher bills just put stuff onto expenses or who get above inflation pay rises when they can't afford it for anyone else.

There's an interesting graph in this article. China increases its output by the total amount the UK produces each year, India every two years.
Thank you for the evidence to back up my claim. So, seriously, what is the point of all the extra charges we incur when it's akin to me trying to put out a forest fire by peeing on it.

This is the crux of the problem. We've gone over and above in the UK, and particularly in Wales.
This is why I have absolutely no time for Extinction Rebellion and Just Stop Oil.

The Kyoto agreement in 1997 effectively turned an environmental issue into a political one. As ever, politicians use issues such as this to claim to be on the " right side " and produce policies to fit their agenda, raise taxes etc. rather than produce a systematic programme to address all the environmental issues at stake. We end up with politically driven action, pressure groups and media opinion soup that take us away from a sound basis for decision making. Where CO2 becomes the issue over and above all other environmental issues.

Countries like China etc, are more concerned about energy security than some climate change theory. They will put that before anything else

Ok, let’s use that ignore button and take a breather all round.
The ignore button has been used, Keith. Maybe I'd best stop disagreeing with Scotia too.
If two people disagreeing with a poster amounts to bullying, if asking for evidence to back up claims amounts to bullying then where are we? Specially when having posts removed (for racism?) and being insulting is ok) so maybe other users need to take note.
Maybe I'm just being overly dramatic. Or maybe I deserve to be banned.

look Keith harry and Lloyd ganging up on another site member because they are the real authority around here!
Who are Harry and Lloyd ? Are they to blame for global warming? I know a lot of hot air gets blown on this forum sometimes but to blame anyone in particular for the recent storms seems a bit OTT ? Mind you when I was driving in the torrential rain while the sun was blazing this morning it left me all confused. At least I know who to blame now. Damn you Harry and Lloyd ( whoever you are
