Seeing lots of comments online regards the USA/Iran peace deal, people are calling it a surrender by the Yanks and that it's not just a surrender that it's a humiliation, 300 Billion to be paid in reparations, sanctions to be lifted, Iran to have control of the Straits (and after 60 days they might be able to charge a fee if they choose), nothing to stop their links to Hezbollah and Houthi's, status quo as regards nuclear weapons, even America's bosses the Israeli's to be told to stop fighting in Lebanon.
Many people are pointing out that America has not been on the winning side in a war since 1945 (depends how you measure what winning looks like i suppose) when the Russians did most of the heavy lifting and the British Empire held the line basically on their own for a period of time.
A lot of people think it's a surprise that America has lost (as they see it) but they find it shocking the size of the defeat it being a total and utter beating. [Post edited 18 Jun 11:04]

I'm not convinced this is the end of it, clearly the Americans are looking for an exit ramp, but they are retreating but with a pointed loaded gun in their hand, Iran and Israel both continue to have their fingers on the trigger, it could kick off again, Israel might be the most likely as the USA want out, Iran seem to have what they want out of the deal, so Israel might be the ones to kick it all off again. | |

Many are accused of Trump Derangement Syndrome but this is a really good barometer looking the other way.

It does look an awful deal. One big question will be what the Arab neighbours do. Given a bit of time they can build new pipelines to bypass the strait. There also appear to be intriguing links to Ukraine and interest in anti drone and missile technology from countries that can afford to invest. if push gives way to shove I still think Iran will be more vulnerable than its neighbours, with so much economic dependency on that one major centre of Kharg Island versus the far more dispersed Arab Gulf assets. | | | |

All oil drilled in the North Sea has to be refined in Norway first , all UK refinaries are being scaled back hence Aberdeen booted Labour/SNP out , lost jobs and income necessary .
Ed Miliband of the tree huggers party has played a blinder there so my petrol price at the pumps will remain stable to get to work on a daily basis , a joke if ever he gets to power .

North Sea oil would at least be sold in our regional market. There is no single global oil market but several regional markets for slightly different but generally substitutable products. Usually the further away from the UK supply for a particular market is, the higher the transport costs and eventual retail price. Energy security is also improved if the product from a regional market can be moved without restrictions such as those that apply in the Strait of Hormuz. So in line with the law of supply and demand more oil production in our regional market is good for us. You and others have bought into the Miliband cool aid. The case for increasing North Sea gas supply is even stronger. | | | |
