I found the description of the play in this article incredible;

However, the article does not speak to anyone involved to find out the context (I must say I struggle to imagine in which context the scenes described would be appropriate...but I would still like to hear the other side of the story).

Inappropriate-yes
I suspect this happened. Medical (and Veterinary) students still do things no other students have done since the 80s and somehow are allowed to pass it off as ‘High Jinks’. We have clamped down on it here, but still goes on some places. |  | | |

Blackface is not appropriate, it may not have been intended as racism but nobody sensible does it, it is offensive.
