Found this comment in the Daily Mail in response to an article on a "30 year old " asylum seeker attending a school in Coventry - quite enlightening .... A friend of mine's family temporarily fosters 'under 18' asylum seekers. They have facebook and whatsapp groups telling them what to say when they arrive in a country, where to head to etc. Usually it's to say you're under 18, and say you're from x village in x country but have no paperwork, as they'll be less likely to turn you down if you're from there. If all that fails and you get busted, the advice is often to say you had to lie because you're gay and you'll be persecuted if you're sent back. Most of them are given an end goal of places to get to. 'If you get to Westminster and claim asylum they'll have to give you a house there worth millions' etc. They know exactly how much money the foster carers are going to be given and some straight up ask for all of the money to be given directly to them. Some say they're under 18, then within a few weeks say that they aren't, but for some reason don't get deported. The whole world needs to come up with a solution.
