Sky can only do an allegedly guaranteed 11 Mbps download and 1.1 upload but it's often been lower. Virgin had a sale on recently so we signed up, they're offereing 213 Mbps average, pretty much the same package as I had with Sky but it's 12 quid a month cheaper. I have no experience of supanet.

Speak as you find but I'm with virgin and my internet connection has been poor at best and crap at worst , we've tried sky which was worse but at least you could could speak to someone for assistance , Virgin call centres appear to be closed so any help you may require is conveyed by an automated response and the need to have an internet connection so you can complain you have no internet connection

Plusnet is BT’s old products. Been with them a couple of times, easier to deal with than BT but you will find the router will start to fall over now and again, speeds throttled and no more than three or four devices on the WiFi before it craps out, but all on all reasonable value. BT are poor and treat their customers with contempt and Virigin are just thieves.

Unlikely to ever be more than two or three devices on the go at any one time so that's not a bother. Not noticed any throttling but I'm less than half a mile from the exchange in any case.

| Internet companies on 08:05 - Jan 5 with 843 views | Treforys_Jack | Its suprising when you work out how many devices are using the Internet at any one time. My house has 4 adults, which means 4 phones, 3 laptops, 3 tablets, hive, 5 smart plugs, 2 smart cameras, 3 echo's, 3 fire sticks, the list just goes on and on. Oh yes, Virgin for me and pretty happy with it, all things considered. | | | |

My daughter moved house, and they do not seem to know what they are doing concerning customer service.and installation. She cancelled, and because it's over 14 days since the deal was agreed- although not service had yet, they want to charge her a cancellation fee- which is normal, but £340, that's not reasonable. She complained and they said they have already passed it over to a debt recovery firm and threatened her with bailiffs, all of which is bypassing the procedures and i believe illegal. If it was me i would have told them where to go, and they wouldn't get a penny from me, but she's not like me and is a bit scared of the debt collection thing, which is what they want to happen - it's all about intimidation. I believe i have found a loophole, so it's going to get interesting, but we don't really need the hassle

I have been with Plusnet for a number of years and found them to be a bit of a mixed bag. Customer Service is good, you can call them up, get an answer, actually speak to someone who speaks English and who is based in the UK and get the help you need. Price is great and line speed is good. Down side is their router, from my experience its not great and the signal on one of the frequencies drops out regularly and needs to be reset, it’s a firmware issue. I think the router is a rebadged older BT model. I was 4 months in to a new 18 month contract at the start of lockdown and needed a reliable broadband, so I bit the bullet and bought my own router and no problems since. Lots of people on Plusnet buy the BT Hub on eBay for around £10 and use that without problem.

Yeah crazy, between me and the enemies there’s four phones, three TV’s, four laptops, Xbox, Nintedo Switch, three Alexas, an iPad and a fire stick. It’s quite absurd.
