Thomas Henry and Swansea City back in talks 24th Jun 2021 12:02
As we reported two weeks ago it seems Thomas Henry is on the verge of leaving OH Leuven. The Belgian side have excluded him from their recent friendlies, and the manager has stated he believes he will leave this summer. The latest news is he is speaking with Swansea City to attempt to tie up a deal. This is being reported in Belgium by Het Nieuwsblad and we have the story in this article. 2

He is a big unit. He needs to be at the club first day of training to get fully conditioned and ready to fire.

We seem to be quite serious about recruitment this season. It's good to see but I hope our owners don't go from one extreme to the other. Maybe our finances are in far better shape than many of us imagine?

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Earlier this month, we carried a report from Het Nieuwsblad, who explained Swansea City’s interest in Thomas Henry is ‘becoming more concrete’.
It was also stated the Championship club have not found an agreement with either the player or his club, OH Leuven, because they are waiting to find out if other clubs will come forward to sign him.

I don't think our finances are bad as some would make out, nowhere near to the extent of other championship clubs anyway. Although, the days of us spending £4m on a player are long gone. Can't see this one happening, and if it's true what Badlands has said, then we don't really want it to either.

The US owners have been honest and helped the club through difficult times

They talked of "hard medicine". This treatment has worked perhaps. They tried recruitment in 2017 but the recruitment side was not up to scratch and old players returned. They have rectified that long bug bear as well with Scott. Of course the proof of the pudding is in the eating . The manager must play the players brought to the club. Hourahaine was not a success and Whitaker has a lot to prove. encouraging signs from the academy which has also beeen transitioning with a high profile new director.

The convertible loan note has surely helped. Fans asked for investment and the US people have provided it if it is converted.

If the club are in the position to offer some people discount season tickets then yeah, we're in reasonable shape financially. I would expect a sale to offset spending of this magnitude however.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Its natural players want to improve themselves. There is also the contract situaltion to consider. Dhanda for example has not signed his new deal aparently. There will alway be churn in a healthy market.

Wonder if its been lined up to try and soften the blow of cooper leaving.. Not that I care that he would leave but I'm sure the majority of our fan base would.

Me too, I’m guessing one of Grimes, Cabango or Roberts.

I can't see Grimes being here next year. He will be the "big sale" I think.

When assessing players and trying to describe them to a third party the best was is to compare them with a current or past player.

I always thought Tammy Abraham was the new Adebayor and would kick on like Emmanuel did as he developed past 24 years. He needs to get away from Chelsea.

I have looked at clips of Henry and come up with Alexander Mitrovic as a comparison. It would be great if he matched up to the big Serb.

A comparison like that can give an idea but is it the best way? I think Jasper does it best, he describes a players strengths and weaknesses.

A player of the same style as Mitrovic would probably be a benefit in this division, if he's as good or better anyway. If he plays like Mitrovic but can't find the net he could just be a waste of money.

PS, is the market healthy? It's certainly a bit depressed, most clubs don't have the money to spend after the last year they had.

He did reasonably well in the Belgian second league for a couple of seasons getting 7 goals in 15 then 15 goals in 22 or similar. He however kicked on in the top league so has an upward trajectory. He will need to have sensible wages expectations of course but has not lived the 'good life' like Assomabaloga for example. He would be a bigger risk. Look at what happened to Lyle Taylor. Bombed completely.

I would like to see a bid for Surridge. he improved quite a lot over his time at Swansea and is much younger. He might not get game time at Bournmouth.

Well, if he's not fussed on coming here or is looking for more money, best he and us look elsewhere.

Surridge?! Not for me personally. Never rated him and didn’t do a lot for Bournemouth last year.

His last 2 seasons have been very good. If he was an established striker with a top line European club we couldn't afford him.
Is it a risk? Yes it is.
Depends how confident our scouting team is.

Llorente was not fussed on coming here and wanted more money. He was a great signing. Once Spurs were interested he was off. All his wages paid and $4m in the bank all paid for by Spurs. I expect not too many of Laudrups signings would have not shown if it was not for the great man.
